Bench Seat + Car Seats (1 Viewer)

Hi guys,

Does anyone know if the new GX or LC will be able to accomodate three car seats across the 2nd row bench seat? I used to own a 100 series which could have physically fit three car seats although we only had one kid at that time. I have not seen any specs on this topic thus far, so if anyone knows, I'd appreciate it. May mean the difference between an LC or GX overtrail and just a GX.

I tried looking, all I could find for the GX550 was 83.2 inches with mirrors.
The LX600 is listed as 78.3 inches without mirrors.

The GX460 width seems to be 74.2 inches wide without mirrors. I think 3 would be really tight in the GX460 unless 2 were booster seats.

My 2012 Tundra double cab is listed as 79.9 inches without mirrors, and I've fit 3 car seats (1 rear facing 2 forward) across the back seat.

My guess is it'll be really tight for 3 car seats, but maybe doable especially f one is a booster.

I'm talking about GX550, not GX460 (which is narrow). I see it as comparable to a 100 series, so I think three will fit, just don't have any confirmation at this point.

that sounds like the LC250 will be ~75 inches wide w/o the mirrors which is about the width of my Tacoma, which isn't great. It'll fit 3 skinny Diono carseats but not 3 of the jumbo wide Britax ones I have like a Tundra would.

I think it depends heavily on the type of car seats. We had the same problem with our kiddos...we then got into the seat carrier that is made for air travel, which has a slimmer profile. It made things easier but still a total PITA.

I know it's not what you asked - but remember that the kids are only going to get bigger. I traded 4Runner for Tundra with only 2 kids plus a dog because I didn't have enough space for the people, dog, and all of our gear. Could it work? Sure. Plenty of people put 3 kids seats across the middle bench in a 5th gen 4Runner. But it's tight. Would it be better with more room? Absolutely. I would look pretty hard at finding a 3 row model or full size truck/suv with 3 kids unless your other car is one of those. My RX350 is probably pretty close in width to the LC250 (about 2 inches wider than a GX460 inside) and it might physically fit 3, but there's really no way it would be comfortable for 3 larger kids or young adults for longer trips.

I'm still betting that the next gen 4Runner will have a 3rd row. Might be worth waiting for that. Probably the same vehicle with different skin and 3rd row option.

Diono makes the thinnest car seat out there, I could have fit 3 across my old VW Alltrack. Tight but would fit. I'm sure the LC250 will be able to with the right spec seat.

This. It will likely depend on the seats you're using. I have a Graco Slimfit, Diono Radian 3R and a Doona across the bench in my 200. Even my wife's XC90 can fit the Doona plus two Graco Slimfits so I'm sure you will be able to fit three of some sort in the 550.
