I'm curious if anyone has done this on the 80?
on my car, the bellypan (plastic) w/ NACA ducts does a lot to help engine temps.

I was thinking a partial one (still high enough to be above suspension arms, not in path of rocks) could direct more air in and more importantly, cut down the turbulence and smooth out the airflow in the engine bay- thus better airflow management

just theory, but thinking about it...

A bellypan on a car is designed to reduce lift underneath the car. Any ductwork to move air is also designed to work at speed, not on a slow truck. On an 80 it would block off the largest area for hot air to escape.

Corey is right. Your bellypan might work if you kept your truck on the highway all the time but going slow on the trail it would kick your Cruiser's tail.

Inverness has one and it has no ill-effect at all. I'll take some pics tomorrow

Inverness' is more like a steering guard (popular with the LR crowd) and it should work if that's what you have in mind. I think the word belly pan can be a tad misleading!

FirstToy you could always remove your hood, or put a nasty scoop on there. That would let the heat out!

Trying to design a belly pan that would increase engine compartment flow? That's quite a tall order, and I believe well above a home user's resources. Trying to design a belly pan that would reduce engine temperature? Nil - not a chance.

If that's your goal there are myriad ways of reducing your engine temp that are straightforward, reliable and cost effective.
