Nice install Wayne!

Question.... when folks go to the expense and trouble of installing a turbo... why not, or how common is it for folks to go all the way and install an intercooler at the same time?

Steve

(Someone needs to make a nice bolt on kit for those... hmmm)

sure wish I could convince myself that I 'needed' a turbo. i guess the long list of other mods will have to get done first. :(

at this time there are a few of us looking for a proper intercooler to install but there has not been much success so far.
open to suggestions though.

you need a turbo, you need a turbo, you need a turbo
and if you actually do i would be willing to do the install for free as long as you pay for my wife and i to come down to do it...
;^)

Steve,

As a fellow resident of Central America knowing the roads and elevation here, a turbo is NOT an option, it's a necessity. You can do without it only if you plan on staying down at sea level all the time.

Very nice, Wayne! Top notch,

You said it's a BJ70...but the valve cover that I see in the pic doesn't look like a 3B cover, and it doesn't look like a 13BT cover either...what gives? Looks like a short 1HD-T valve cover.

this is a 3B II turbo conversion. this is the one i had to make the custom adapter from the 10 bolt pattern down to a 8 bolt patter...
what do you think of hte turbo install?
cheers

Looks nice. Nice touch on the 13BT crossover pipe. TURBO is big red letters:D

Where did you draw your oil from?

Very purty.

I was also wondering about details on the turbo install... what turbo and manifold did you use? Then just a 13B-T pipe to the throttle body?

Greg,
there is a oil journal plug near the rear of the engnie on all B series engines and this one is pushing 60 psi at idle up to the turbo, i also "T'd" the oil pressure gauge from here so i know how much pressure is getting to the turbo.

Nor Cal,
i used a complete 13BT setup with a slightly massaged CT26 turbo. the adapter will work with any aftermarket turbo setup.
cheers

Cool. I tapped into that plug for my mechanical guage on my BJ42.

Mullen once said to me in the perfect world take the front to the turbo, and take your oil pressure reading from the back. His reasoning is the front one is closest to the oil pump so will give the best oil pressure, and you would get the worst case sitution at the rear.

In the real world I would think there is probably little difference. Any of the plugs along that oil pressure gallery will do, and I would be happy using any of them. Much better then sharing one supply ala AXT design, though there are many AXT's that have been running for years with the shared supply and dump.

Hey Wayne-O, that there's some nice work. Like the gauge cluster especially.
