Hi all,

I searched but most threads are at least 5 years old and I wanted to see if there were any new batteries to the market that people are using and like!

Truck has an OEM Lexus battery now thats 5 years old and the truck is going to Buffalo, NY with the girlfriend for 6 weeks so I'm gonna replace it to prevent her getting stranded somewhere in negative temps. It sat for a week and was pretty low so figured a replacement would be a good idea.

What batteries are you all using nowadays? Preferably one I can get LOCALLY!

Thanks!

If the GF is taking it away for awhile, consider the Toyota battery. If she has a problem it will be warrantied and she can easily stop into a Toyota dealer and get help.

Costco has a interstate 27 battery with 3 year warranty for $89

I checked 6 months ago and they didn’t carry the 27F. I checked today and they had them stocked on the rack at least in the DFW area.

I’d recommend a 27F battery from Costco. Perfect fit. My costco had to special order, not in stock. Below average cost for above average battery, and a good replacement (not prorated!) warranty. Don’t forget to clean and grease (dialectic preferred, but anything better than nothing) the connectors and terminals.

Costco said they don't stock a 27F and couldn't order one for me either. Wasn't sure if the person I talked to was being lazy or telling the truth. Ended up getting an Interstate MTP-27F at a local tire store and so far so good.

Thanks for the replies guys! I will swing by Costco tomorrow to check it out. I looked at a X2 Power Premium AGM battery also but out of stock locally. Leaving for NY on Friday so will have to source something tomorrow. Worst comes to worst I guess I'll have to go to Advance/Autozone and get a generic duralast platinum battery.

No for those autoshop batteries. I never bought one but a friend who bought from them had to get a replacement within 6 months and again another in few months. They refused to issue a new battery and ONLY refunded $50. He now uses Bosch battery and its been 2 years, and no problems. I buy from Walmart and those run 5 years without any issues. They have specials on new batteries like $89 or so. Also, I have the 4runner (24F) sized battery in the cruiser for the past 18 months and works well even at -10 Celsius! Toyota battreies are also highly recommended and it is about $118.

Costco hands down, plus no hassle free replacement in the warranty period.

I have been looking for interstate 27F batteries in Costco, San Diego. My Costco doesn't carry and I asked if they do special order and they said they didn't.

My Costco only has 27F as a special order, take a week to get it in and they don’t install batteries. The battery and warranty seem very good.

I went with a Duracell 27F now being stocked at Sam’s Club for under $100 with free install in 15 minutes while I watched from their nice warm waiting area. The rating was a bit higher than the Interstate/Costco at 840 cca/1035 ca. The warranty is 36 months full replacement vs the 42 month that costco had on their non-stock Interstate.

Toyota was also a consideration, since it is basically the same Interstate battery from what I understand.

All you need to do is buy a different sized battery, that's what I did.
I researched what other sizes fit and bought that size. They don't install it for you so all you need to do is walk in, grab it off the shelf, buy it and install it in the parking lot then bring your old battery back in for the core.
I do not remember what size I bought, no I won't go look, it's late, and 0*F.

Costco didn’t want to order it for me either, but I pointed it out on their website, and asked why the heck is it on the Costco website if I have no way to get it. They ordered it for me. Took about three or four days. Ask to speak to a manager if necessary.

I got a Diehard Platinum deep cycle battery as a stop-gap measure to adding a second battery to run my ARB fridge. So far, I've been very happy with it. Good price, starts great, runs the fridge with no worries as long as I start the truck every couple days, and great full replacement warranty. Only problem was needing to shim up the battery a bit to fit the stock holder location. No biggie.

Just replaced mine with a $93 wally-world. I usually use them for the 3/5 yr warranty and there are wal-marts freakin' everywhere, so replacing under warranty is easy.

After several non-Toyota batteries that did not make it past 6 months, I went back to the original Toyota battery and have not had any issues. The non-Toyota batteries that I used always died when it got cold. The Toyota battery is probably $40 more than the other brands, but they last longer. Even if the other brands are warrantied and replaced for free, its just a hassle. I'd spend the extra $ and get the Toyota battery.
