Did a search but to my surprise found nothing here, I'm wondering if anyone is familiar with these wheels, made by Ballistic and called the "Jester".

the goal is to create a more modern / tougher look than stock but w/o going too far into the 'poser/off-road' look since it's really a city truck mostly.

I know the wheel size / tire size debate is about 400 pages long, was there ever a consensus reached on what size I want based on the above criteria ?

I"m thinking 305/50/20 Terra Grapplers or something that looks kinda aggressive but not over the top.

Advice on this choice ? Will this work OK w/o lifting the truck ?

See the wheels here:

You won't find anyone on here running those wheels. 99% of mudders have Toyota OEM wheels, they are stronger than most anything aftermarket.

Are those bolts real... or posing?

you will be hard pressed to find any one positive feed back here or any photos.....

First, welcome to the forum! Where are you located?

I think there are some nice looking aftermarket wheels out there. These dont do it for me. I have looked at aftermarket wheels for over 7 years. They always have a little too much bling for me. But, it is your truck and I believe you should do 100% what you like. For mostly on road you will never have a problem. Off-road is where and why most people dont run aftermarket wheels. Off road, you will get scratches, scrapes, and gouges in the wheel. Most people are not willing to drop the coin for a set of wheels that will get beat on when they can just touch up the factory wheel with a rattle can. And the "posing" comment is weak as most on here do just that. I have been here since 06 and can count on one hand.... maybe two the number of people that actually push their rig hard.

To date... the best option I have found is this:

lots of good input here, thanks. yes the black paint is a big improvement and that guys truck looks great ! I DO feel the wheel well looks too big for the factory wheelset (personal opinion here) so I want something bigger.

I'll keep looking around. I guess some 20" tundra wheels are still in the consideration list. maybe I'll get a set powdercoated black.

This is a '98 cruiser that I bought (almost) new for my wife. She drove it 100k, then I loaned it to my brother. He just returned it--- 8 years and another 100k later ---- so it's a bit of a family 'heirloom'.

I'm gonna have a ball fixing it up. New leather, new carpet, new headlliner, and a wheels/tires package. But first it goes to the body shop for some scratch repair and rust touch-up !

Can't wait. Grateful to have found you guys as a resource.

If you want to update your rigs look, pick up some Toyota OEM RockWarrior rims from the newer Tundra's. That will update your rig and keep the Toyota ruggedness where you most need it. I would never put aftermarket rims on the 100. Just my opinion. I know for a fact I would of torn up a set of aftermarket rims the way I drive offroad. and my OEM aren't pretty... they look trashed lol

Everyone says keep with the Toyota wheels because of their strength but he says the truck is mainly street driving anyways so go with the ballistics! I'd love to see those wheels on lc. I really like them myself. And yeah almost everybody has stock wheels because of their strength but they look good too. I just ordered a set of pro comp 7033s (the wheels that are now on the white sas hundy) besides that I've seen the xd monsters on nates truck but every other lc I've ever seen has stock wheels so it would be nice to see a little variety!

So get those ballistics I can't wait to see them!

I do love my Rock Warrior wheels!!!!!

And for $950 used with tires they are very reasonably priced

How big of a spacer do you need to run the rock warrior wheels?

Mtnracer,

I got 1 inch spacers from Carl at Just Differentials. They are rqd for the fronts but i used them in back as well. I have had them on almost a year and no issues. Smooth as silk.

I second this! If it's not going to see too much off the road driving, then who needs the more durable off road wheel? Some good looking aftermarket wheels would be great lookin on a hundy I think. I love the look of Nate's truck, and some variety in wheel style would be great. But, if you were going to go for Tundra wheels, maybe some like this?
