Too far north. Too far east.

Well, it's that time again. Time to clear the head. Time to contemplate wtf I'm doing here. Time to visit my favorite desert. Time to relax on a sandy, deserted beach, cerveza in hand, watching breaching whales and diving boobies (the blue footed kind). Time to skinny-dip in a palm oasis pool. Time to get accosted by those Mexican kids with assault rifles. Time to challenge myself in this great frontier.

Where's that green with envy emoticon? -Mike-

Don't know Mike, but bring it along.

Mike and I depart Thursday, and will cross the border on Friday at Algodones. We have Pesos and Passports. We will not be seen again on this side of the border until Friday, 8 April. I promise to come back tan and relaxed, dusty, shaggy, and smelly. Trip report and slide shows, as usual, will follow our return. In the mean time, don’t worry, I won’t miss ya’all.

Glad you guys are getting away....especially Mike. :)

He should be over in just a little bit for me to do some final tuning to his rig.

Yes, I've been a little edgy for the past year. Jon says there will lots of quiet time in between miles and miles of crappy dirt roads. I'll turn up the Pink Floyd, roll up the windows, and turn on the A/C.

Thanks for helping with the truck on Sunday, it's running great.

Where ya been Ron?! I think it has been 2 or 3 years since you've been to a meeting so plan to attend the next one and I'll talk Onur into buying you a beer... or you can show up at Zinc tonight. It appears that I'm buying a round for everyone that comes out to support Shawn's music hobby.

-Mike-

Yeah, last meeting I went to was either late 2009, or early 2010. Between work, the kids, and starting a full time graduate school at UNM, I had almost no spare time in 2010/2011. But I finish up school in the summer, so I should have so more free time soon.

Sorry I couldn't make it last night, I was in class, though I am a big fan of the blues, and am looking forward to making it to one of the gigs.

That picture above is one of my favorite pics. It reminds me that no matter how aggravating the last two weeks have been that peace is about to landed upon me. Two more days. Sure hope Mikie likes palm oasis. I can use one right now.

Can't wait for the pics of the two of you "skinny-dipping in the palm oasis".

Everyone ponder that for a moment.....

Well, intrepid adventurers, are you on the road? :steer: And if so, which of the various vehicles is making the trip? We expect an update at the first cantina with cold cerveza and a WiFi connection.

Or maybe you're not crossing the border until tomorrow (Friday)? If so, then you really have no excuse for not giving us an update from somewhere in southern Arizona this evening.

Have fun!

Well, Mike and I were frantic last night trying to get ready. The bottom line ... it was going to be a very late evening which made hitting the road early a silly idea. So, we have decided to postpone our departure one day.

The only place we will have Internet access while down there will be Bahia de los Angeles. That will be next weekend.

say hello to Mulege if you get that far south

he mounted the ham in the 40, so I assume that's what he took.

and Mulege is awesome! I loved that town.

So does anyone know what he's driving?

From his 40 thread:
I figure I have three options, actually two.

Take Da'40
Take the 4Runner
Not go

DA'40!

Yep, Mikie and I are in Bahia de los Angeles. Two nights in a palm canyon, one night in a dry canyon (sort of), and two nights on the beach. We will shower and let somebody feed us today. Then tomorrow head out again ... or not. Most likely going to drive out to the Pacific and head north coming out at Catavina. Then, Mission Santa Maria.

Oh, and the 2FE rocks at sea level. Holy torque monster.

Isn't technology wonderful?
