Wanted - Backer Plate for Rear Tube Tire Carrier (Original or Fabbed)

I'm adding a rear tube tire carrier to my troopy. The stock troopies had the spare under the truck, so I will have to drill holes. The lower hinge mount goes through the rear sill, so there will be reinforcement already.

My issue is the upper hinge mount, which will not have the backer plate with the weld nuts.

Do anyone have an original backer plate or know anyone that sells a similar fabbed bracket?

Thanks!

Mark, thanks for the reply. I just left a voicemail on your business line.

Good question on the spacing as I didn't state which carrier I have.

@65swb45 my carrier is the 8/80- 10/84 version I believe, actual carrier below:

If you want to measure your hole spacing, I will check it against my plate as soon as I have a chance. Right now I have 3 carbs to attend to. Thanks.

I'll report back with the spacing later tonight.

The holes have a bit of wear. I measured center to center.

@pardion is correct; they are different. Very different. Mine measures out at about 48mm across, and about 32mm vertical. Sorry

That appears to be a '79 and earlier tire carrier. The 80 ones had a vertical tube near the hinges versus the gussets.

I agree looks to be the earlier style. Checking part numbers from 1/80-12/80 looks to be three different numbers for the hinge. Glad all mine are earlier style so have some replacements tire carriers for my 79. Have a part of a 78 rear quarter panel with this bracket still there. Won't be there for a few weeks though to measure the pattern the nuts are welded on.
