What's the minimum backspacing for rims on a 40? Thanks.

oops, the minimum

I think about 2" would be the minimum you would need. Why do you ask?

3.5" won't rub, anything more will.

I bought 4 rims awhile back and now I'm getting the fifth. Just couldn't remember. I think I got 3.75" and the fronts rubbed a tad.

What are they rubbing on?

I've got 3.75 right now, with quarter inch spacers up front...They're perfect for my stock sized winter tires, but 33x12.5's rub like mad, front and rear. And if not for those spacers, they'd be grinding down the brake calipers up front...

3.75 will touch the tie rod up front without spacers, even then balancing weights cannot be installed on the inner rim.
