I hate even asking but I am seeking advise. I am considering swapping out my axles for the Dana 60 option. Before I get too convinced I am curious what some might consider my current set up is worth,

Front is a FJ60, 4:10's, ARB, 5th stud mod with 4x4 labs highsteer. It was notched using a spring perch from Rough stuff specialties so I could keep from outboarding the springs. No worries of the tires rubbing the springs and it bolt right into a 40/55 . It has Longfields and Marlin Crawler Heavy Duty Front Inner Axle EcoSeals. Also has half of a compressed gas welding bottle for diff armore.

Rear is a Full Float FJ60/62 imported by Specter Off Road. It has Disk brakes, ARB, 4:10's and a Rough Stuff trackbar. I have the same armore but never welded it on.

Thoughts???

Here is a link to the spring perch from rough stuff:

Although you have more than this into them most likely. I would be surprised if you could get more than 2500$

Are the Long's true Long's or are they the trailgear Long's? Are you still running 17mm trunion bearings? ARP studs or anything upgraded there?

Why ?? Do you want to swap you already have a pretty bomb proof set up
Stronger than a stock 60 I had a short box Ford with a 300 six and it broke rear axles and front u joints regularly
And now that trailgear isn't honouring longfields warranty without a receipt and you being the original purchaser the resale on them isn't what it used to be

Let me know when you get to $500, I'll be right over.

Rear spindle will probably be equivalent but depending upon the D60, it will probably have room for 35 spline shafts.

What d60s are you dealing with? I have seen very few d60 rears that have room for 35 spline shafts other than the HD D60.

That being said, a cruiser maxes out at stock d60 strength.

General Sherman,

What size tires are you currently running, and are you looking at going larger?

Well I couldn't sell my built mini truck diffs best offer I got was 1200
Front Yukon zip locker hi pinion 5.29 's longfields and his hub gears arb knuckle studs fifth stud mod
Trussed and armoured and upgraded brake s
Rear was just 5.29 spool armored and trussed
Everything less than six months old less than a thousand miles
Yes the 60 knuckle may be stronger than a toys
The weak point is the ujoint unless you step up to rcv shafts there used to be a test chart booby long did
Of testing axles by breaking them if I remember the longs broke at a higher load than 4140 Dana 60 shafts
And the longs where tested at full lock

I think $2,500 is a good starting point, as others have said, see what happens. I believe that's what I sold my built 40 axles for (many years ago but built almost like yours) when I swapped to a Dynatrac D60 front and an FZJ80 FF rear. I think Tin Basher is correct about the old Bobby Long "SuperJoints" for the D60 also. I bought a set years ago and told myself "spend the money because these will never break". As others have stated, I'd upgrade to the Dana stuff also as the upgrades are nearly limitless and the 40 axles are maxed out on strength at this point.
