Axle Swap (1998-1999 e-locker) into a 2000

My thought is if you remove your brake calipers and reinstall on 99 axle, nothing changed from an electrical stand point from the vehicles point of view.

I always thought the wiring would be there in the 2000s for the rear diff lock, just not hooked up in the US models. The diff lights are in the dash. Like the center diff wiring in the 93 to 97 LCs. That was great/easy to open up the dash and plug in a CDL switch.

Well, I called to purchase the axle and found out it sold 30 minutes before. I'll have to put this on the back burner again :(

Any advice on the locker actuator and wiring would be awesome.

I have the same situation. Found a 99 elocker axle. Axle is still on vehicle (roll over). Ive been asking around. Talked to few people and Ive been told to also get all the available wire harnesses, and also the transmission relay???? What I could not get is confirmation if there are problems with the ATRAC and VSC with the swap.

I called Cristo at Slee and he told me that he has a module that can be wired between the axle and the switch on the dash.

Ive been working on this for the last month and here I run into this thread. Awesome.

:bang:

^ that's a steal...especially if whoever is buying it needs to do an R&R on just one side of their puking axle.

Have you checked that the wheel speed sensors are the same or at least use the same mount?

^ they look identical from the photos of '99 and 2000+

easy to check the ABS sensor ring part #s to see if they're the same...

Stick with your plan B of an Air Locker. I just ordered F &R 3rd's from JTs with 4.88's and TJM Air Lockers.

The whole motive behind this project was the price. I could of picked up a fully outfitted OEM E-locked axle for $400. Then I was going to sell them my 2000 rear axle for $750. I was going to swap the axles, get a locker, and get $350 back. I don't "need" the rear locker, but I did "want" it. When my front differential blows. I will go ARB (or OEM if available) and gear to 4.88's.

That is good business. ;<)

I want to do the same. We need to figure this out. A few rear axles on ebay.

Yes, non-VSC 100 has single brake line from frame to axle (then splitting off to both sides). VSC 100 has two separate brake lines from the frame to the axle.

elocker wiring

See attached for official wiring diagram for the factory elocker. Obviously being toyota it it's own control ECU. Note that there are sensors to detect the end of the travel (in and out) of the actuator, which controls when the power to the actuator motor is terminated.

Old thread, just want to give hopefully some advice for those still trying to do this. I did it, swapped a 98 locked axle to a 01 and the only fabbing was creating an additional mounting hole for the brake line bracket on the axle. I drilled and tapped a threader then bolted it on, fit perfectly otherwise.

Was all the wiring and ECU for locker present?

No it was not, but I wasn't going t use it anyway, slee has a chip setup you can install to override everything and operate the locker with a normal on/off switch much better than dealing with the ECU wiring and safety features. The chip has the e-locker limits as well so it knows when to stop the motor etc.

Thank you, I took a look through the Slee page and did not find it, I will dig through more carefully.

Weird... went looking for it on their website and its not there anymore, part number is SOF1105 I actually need to buy one so I'll call them and ask them what happened to it.
