So I am looking to rebuild my axle and I am asking if anyone has first hand knowledge of this kit that they sell over at Low Range Off Road? It looks to have all the quality you might want, but it comes at a price. I would need the 54 mm spindle nut socket, and the scale. So that works in my favore. Any thoughts, thank you in advance

Scale? The centering tool for the knuckles? Depending where you are you can source one through mud and rent it. Various members have them BUT unlessthe shims are all out of sorts you don’t necessarily need to use it.
I bought my terrain tamer kit from Valley Hybrids. Also got the socket from Georg too.

2 1/8th?? socket also works
any good sporting good shop has fish scales.
X2 on generally not needing to re-center the knuckles
use Marlin inner seal

Sorry, scale, ah yes for measuring preload. Pretty cheap. Like he said, fishing/sport shop has them. Mine is a simple manual spring loaded one but some have used digital suitcase scales too.

That certainly is a complete kit - I don't think there's anything one could add. It's hard to tell from the one pic, but it looks like it even contains the Marlin Birf seals.

Generally, I don't replace the spindle studs, but since you're in snow Country, they're probably rusty as *** and you may bugger some upon removal, so it's a good thing to include. Ask @NeverGiveUpYota - She seems to work in the ❄❄ snow alot

As you say, comes at a price, but looks like top quality and very complete.

The only thing I'd add are 3 rolls of kitchen towels and a box of gloves and a few cans of brake cleaner.

Use the proper greases.

Oh, just noticed it comes with backing plate eliminator kit -- Unless you plan to delete the backing plates you certainly won't need those, but you could probably resell, though new they only go for around $25.

get the FSM for hub/knuckle/front end service and pay attention to the specific torque specs

Great feedback and thank you all. A bit more info on the truck, and the kit. The truck is rust free so as i think about it, i dont need the spindle studs. I do like the 54 mm socket, the scale the trail gear wipers, and the koyo bearings. I am asking if anyone can give a first hand account on the way all the backing plates and shims line up and are the products from Low Range any good i have never dealt with them?

Isn't there an inner axle seal install tool available? I think folks use a properly sized socket to do this but I thought I saw someone offers a proper seal install tool as well. Man-a-fre maybe? I am sure Cruiser Outfitters has this install tool as well, but I don't know for sure. Who's with me (asking for a friend)?

Socket works easily. HF has a bearing/seal installer which is partly what I used to do my cam bearings.

I had this red cap thing sitting around. Don't remember what it's from. Screwed it to a wooden dowel. Just about anything will work as long as it doesn't damage the seal.

As for Cruiser Outfitters kits vs the Low Range kit. Our kits are 100% Japanese vs import seals/gaskets with just Japanese bearings. Unless you are ditching your brake baking plates/dust shields and reconfiguring your brake lines, their included backing plate eliminators are wasted money. The hub socket, spring scale and spindle bushings are the only other parts they bundle up. We offer those at a lower price point and can easily bundle them into your kit when you order. So you get the Japanese parts you need, the tools you need and a lower price

Just talked with the team over at Cruiser Outfitters. Bryce was great on the phone going over all the options. Going to go with them.
As i was looking around I thought Ishould do the rotors and pads. I wanted to stick with OE, so I called my local dealer for a price. After getting the price and the part number i started looking around online and found prices at other dealers, Toyota dealers, and found some prices that were much lower. I called my diller back and asked if they price match other dealers? They do, got some OE rotors at the dealer for 30% off. I never new a dealer would price match on parts. FYI

Precisely!

Timken makes great bearings and Toyota uses them OE from the factory in many applications. But they have never used them for trunnion bearings and there is a reason, the Timken variant has a totally shallow thrust angle and is not made for the loads knuckle bearings get.
