Picked up my 40 gallon from the freight depot today. It goes on tomorrow/Tuesday. I’ll post pics when installed and let everyone know how it all works out. Will be interesting to try and control filling which tank with the dual filler.

Can’t wait to finally have a decent range!!

SOME MORE GOOD NEWS :bounce::bounce2:

Here is a cross-post from another LRA tank thread on the 200 Forum

About bashing the tank…. It was my impression that these tanks could be up armored on the bottom. Perhaps word Harris can chime in about this, but I hope that is true. From the photo and from my own inspection of a 50 gallon tank in Baja, it appears to me that the tank rides well above where any spare tire would sit, and quite a bit higher than the resonator and it’s stock location.

To me, it seems adequately tucked... Especially if it can be armored with an extra plate of steel.
We have confirmation that the 200 tanks (Large/40 and Medium/24) can have the bottoms upgraded from 2mm to 3mm steel at added cost of $100. Will take additional week to build, delaying the order a bit.

Just let us know when you order.

Thanks!

Tank installs of the 200s are taking place almost weekly.

The tanks are awesome and install as designed - no issues with the charcoal can, emission system, etc. We are wrapping up detailed and updated install instructions for the US-spec 200 tank kits, plus we are adding some items to make life easier.

We are working hard to get inventory on the shelf as we also work through the backlog of introductory orders.

LRA continues to support us well with spirit/enthusiasm and immediate response to our requests and questions. Also have great support during the "fine tuning" of kit components and instructions with excellent feedback from installing shops like Sierra Expeditions in Mesa, AZ

We are also doing similar R&D on LRA tank kits for Lexus GX 470/4G 4Runner and aux tank for LC 100 Series (GX below) while shipping production tanks. The pallet shown has replacement main and aux tanks for JDM diesel 80 Series - 37 gallons plus 24 gallons = 61 gallons total.

Can you let me know how it feels driving with gas tanks topped off? Especially at high speeds? I am worried about the additional weight and how it will affect handling. I love my LC just hate going to gas station every night.

Swap for a heavier set of coils.
Voila!
Done.

It’s basically like giving a ride to fat uncle Fred...except that you’re strapping uncle Fred to the **lowest possible position** on the truck, which is ideal.

my tank was installed today by @sleeoffroad It's nice to have the extra fuel. Thanks for doing this Ward and Georg

Christo's shop did an excellent job as always

It's all going to come down to what coil rate you have. I'm running OME 2724's in the rear with a roughly 4240lb rear end including the 40 gallons of aux fuel. Between empty and full I almost notice no difference especially in handling. It feels like you're just moving more mass down the road it doesn't actually affect anything but you do notice it. My plan is to run the tank 1/4-1/2 full all the time and only full up when I am planning a long offroad route. I consistently drive 80-85 and the fuel tank hasn't affected that at all. Let me know if any other questions buddy.

I run empty rear with stock springs. Will I feel the weight?

As long as you run an empty rear on stock springs with no bumper drawers etc I don’t see you noticing it no. However when you fill up 40 gallons on stock rear springs? Yes i see you noticing it significantly. That’s ~350lbs on a stock rear spring at the furthest rear point behind the axle. Not an ideal scenario. I’ve never owned a vehicle with stock springs for more than a week so I can’t tell you solidly from experience. My reccomendation if you like stock height is pay the extra $100 for a no lift heavier weight OME spring.

Will you feel 40 gallons of fuel?

Yes.

Bump up your springs and you’ll be fine.

Got a chance to test the transfer from the Aux tank. It works fine, I was home before it shut off (25 min). The pump is louder than I expected and got louder when the tank was nearing empty and I was driving over a hilly road section

Still very pleased and a great mod I would recommend

How long did it take to transfer fuel?

Is the pump internal or external to the aux tank?
