After scouring the interwebs for days, months, years and searching fruitlessly for seat covers for a 2000 LX470, I decided to bite the bullet and have them custom made. Orlando at MAE Upholstery is doing it for me. For far more than I wanted to pay, but since I can't find any new OEM leather, it's in for a penny, in for a pound.

Start date is 22 September, 2025.

More to follow.

I too have heard good things from the guy in concord. If anything it’s a vote of confidence. If you need contact info, let me know.

I am going to take a look at the place in Concord. I've used several "trim" shops (old school) in this area with OK results but I am looking for better than OK. Finding a good upholstery shop is not an easy feat. I'll be looking for over the top interior on the Mercedes and need a shop I can work with ahead of time and make adjustments to the build that will ease construction of the interior. I've got a couple trucks in house needing work as well.

What was the cost to recover the seats in the 100 series?
It's an LX470, so the leather was OEM leather, which, of course, made the job more expensive than I wanted. The quote was $5,000 for two front seats, including seat bottom and seat back covers, armrest & headrest covers, and vinyl back panels to match the OEM design.

I'm waiting for swatches from the supplier, to make sure the material and color matches, before we begin. They should be in this week.

This quote was consistent with C.F. Fredrick's quote, which is the shop that Hendrick Lexus uses, and which they recommended. After I discussed the job with them, I decided to look elsewhere.

The worst part of the job is that, if I had a 3rd generation LX470, instead of a 1st generation, I could still get OEM Lexus seat covers for $750 each. The problem is that while they are probably the same pattern and cut, the color is wrong.

I'll post updates as the project progresses.

Is that who Eric used for his vintage fabric in the pickup?
I don't think so. I was under the impression that the guy that installed the pickup interior was near him.

I went with the vegan leather, pleather, vinyl, whatever they are calling it these days. For two front seats, it was $1500. Keep in mind, this was about 3-4 years ago, prices may have gone up. Real leather was way more expensive, I don't remember what he quoted me. I also had them recover the steering wheel in the 100 with real leather.
I have been very pleased with how well everything is holding up, and they still look new. Also, the color match with the tan interior was pretty much spot on, it's a shade lighter than the armrest color, but the armrest is 25 years old. I can take a pic tomorrow and show you.

I bought a leather upholstery kit from Mosley Motors (Leather Interiors — MOSLEY MOTORS - https://www.mosleymotors.com/leather-interiors) for my LX450. The quality of the leather is exceptional, color is a very good match and the price was inline with other suppliers, delivery took a couple of weeks.
I used Gaston Service Company (Gaston Auto Upholstery | Custom Interior | Gastonia, NC - https://www.gastonautoupholstery.com/) for the installation, they did a good job, price was significantly lower than quotes I received in Charlotte. Installation was quick and included new foam!
I'm happy very happy.

I can vouch for seeing this and the quality of the install. I will use them when I need upholstery.

Peterson's Auto Trim Shop · 3732 Pleasant Plains Rd, Matthews, NC 28104 - https://maps.app.goo.gl/kZum7iHNWDjuRd3r7

For others searching, I used Peterson's Auto Upholstery close to my house to recover the door card leather in our 2016 Sequoia. I'd give their work an 8/10 but was quick and affordable. They've had a white 80 series there for a while getting a full interior done and it looks and feels like great quality (I poked around it while I was there).
Good to know and they're super close-by me too!
