Auto hub replacement.... (1 Viewer)

Resurrecting this thread from the dead, it seems like the most appropriate place to pose this question.
Does anyone know if the end cap of the auto hub can be replaced with a manual locking end cap (manual end cap Toyota Part No 43509-60051)? It would be a very easy solution if it does.
The following two pics are a custom fabricated end cap (from the original auto end cap) made by mud member Jarrat to manually lock the hub. It looks very close to the Toyota part in the last pic (courtesy PartSouq).

No, very different dimensions.

Not to Hi-jack but on my 2004 HZJ78L would this be a direct swap? Still very new to the Troopy game so sorry for the dumb question (i promise i try google before i ask you experts)

You'll want to order an Aisin FHT-001. It is significantly cheaper than buying OEM in a red Toyota box.

Edit: If you look at the EPC, you'll need some extra parts to convert from the auto locking hubs to the manual locking hubs. Don't forget to also get the appropriate hardware that works in conjunction with this swap.

Thank you, Ill have to figure out a parts list, back to Google i go. Any thoughts on this mod in. the meantime?
That seems like a good solution if your auto locks are not functioning correctly and you're not ready to dive in deep to do the conversion. Since these hubs are not really popular in North America, perhaps some members from down under can chime in with more experienced advice.

Hello,

The hubs you have are called DM-ALH (Dual Mode Automatic Locking Hub) by Toyota. They are OEM.

Unlike electric hubs, these are very reliable. You can turn the bolt to LOCK for prolonged off-road wheeling. Otherwise, AUTO will do.

There is no need to replace them with manual hubs.

I would disassemble them, have them cleaned and serviced, and reassemble them.
