It's logical, really.
Nearly all manufacturers are moving towards smaller engines and forced induction. Emissions are getting tighter, consumers are demanding more "green" vehicles and better fuel economy, gas prices are climbing. The days of 5.7L V8s in 6000lb SUVs are very much numbered. I agree with the (speculation) that we will never again see a V8 LC/LX beyond the 200 series.
Here in BC they recently
passed a law that by 2040, 100% of "light duty" vehicle sales must be electric. I suspect that won't do any favours for resale of heavy, expensive V8 gas guzzlers in the next 10-20 years.
They keep slapping on more and more taxes on gas, increasing insurance premiums every year, and in big cities like Vancouver (downtown), they're constantly getting rid of vehicle lanes in favour of bike lanes (that get used 5-6 months out of the year). Oh, and there isn't a single gas station in downtown Vancouver (has been the case for a few years now). Gas vehicles (their owners, really) are being seriously and intentionally pressured to get rid of them.
