Cdan use to have the a 70 series mirror, off a pickup model not sold here in the US. I think they were $350+ per pair. But look great. I'll stick to my loose credit card size stocker's for a while..

I have read here that the Aussie style like MAF has are funky because of the Convex glass, "things may look closer than they appear" etc. They look great... What say you, that own them?

MAF has two sets...Toyota OEM sell for $129EA $260 for a pair
and the Taiwan made ones $64EA or $129 a pair

The Taiwan made ones look cheap and require krylon ultra flat cammo paint in black. You also need to Put silicone behind the glass to keep it from rattling. The convex glass is good though, a little wavy as mentioned above, but it eliminates blind spots. I think they are worth half of what MAF sells them for, and am INSULTED that MAF would sell them at all. For my 82 I will go with either OEM aussie's or I may even go for some fender mirrors MOT has:cheers:

One more mirror question:

What are the CCOT mirrors that are linked in. The are on sale for $98.00 pair, are they the Taiwan mirrors? there is a link to them in post #9 Jeverich, in this thread. That's about all I want to spend on mirrors. but don't want to throw away the $$..

The OEM manual 62 mirrors from CDan were ~$95 ea. Glass is flat, no wobble on bumpy roads, bolts on.

double checked and those are the tiawan ones. I had the same on my old 85, and they were decent. a bit better than stock for bigger view, but buzzy at speed, and wouldn't adjust high enough for me to see on right side (admittedly i'm not normal height 6'8", so may be ok if you are shorter).

i got the "aussie" mirrors from CDan and they are going on my new 85 :bounce:(picking up in 2 hours!):bounce:.

GL!

Thanks. I've heard more bad than good on the Tiawaneeze mirrors.

Cdan must like you guys, all he had for me were those 70 series high$$ deals, they look better than great i must admit. LOve to go that route.

Ok, so I hate the mirrors on my BJ60. They don't stay in place, and they're tiny. I know there is an adjustment screw on the ball socket, but it's just a ball of rust. I've basically been driving without use of my side mirrors for about 2 years (since I got it!).

So... I want some Aussie mirrors - or so I thought...

Here are some mirrors, which are called Aussie:

Now there are also mirrors out there that I thought were "Aussie Mirrors" but they are much more square, and appear to swivel from the base - like those on the FJ cruiser minus the lights. What are they - and where to I get those? I've seen them on plenty of 60/62's on here...

Obviously, when searching for Aussie Mirrors, I come up with the above, and with not knowing what the other ones are, I don't know what to search for!!!

Thanks!

I have the AUSSIE/OEM ones on me 84 and I still can't see sh*T:confused:
My 60 has 4" lift and running 35's. But they are better than stock US mirrors.

Good to know, considering I'll be going with 35's this summer.

The manual 62 mirrors have more surface area, right?

My HJ60 came with manual 62 style mirrors, but the donor FJ60 I bought came with the Aussie/Euro mirrors which is what I am using now. While the 62 style glass may be a bit larger, the convex glass in the Aussie/Euro type gives a wider view angle. I also find the Aussie/euro mirrors are a little more sturdy and less prone to vibrations.

Just want to reiterate that the mirrors everyone is hankerin' over are not aussie spec. I searched all over for those when I was in Oz and couldn't find a pair. I ended up with a set off an HJ60 that were a manual version of the US FJ62 mirrors and black instead of chrome. I was told even those were an option in Oz and more rigs came with the small mirrors than big mirrors.

So I did a quick search through the parts diagrams at toyodiy.com. I searched for a 1987 60 series vehicle. North America does not show the so-called "aussie" mirrors. Just the standard mirror and the one we call the 62 mirror are available in North America. The GEN and Europe spec vehicles show the aussie mirror (called convex type) as being available. While this mirror does show up in the Austrailia parts diagram, there is no part number for it--so it wasn't available in Austrailia (first picture).

Japan, on the other hand, has a different selection (second picture) but no convex-type mirror. The only thing I can think of is that their version of the DOT doesn't allow convex mirrors?

The japan selection looks like one door mirror, and three different fender mirrors. I haven't seen that style door mirror before.

Hi there,

I was wondering if any of you guys know where I can find the JDM 60 series electric fender mirrors, can't find them anywhere! Mot, do you still have yours? Thank you!
