forget all of that junk above, just get the hobart lockers front and rear...

perfect for super slick ice, gobs of traction when turning, better than a STI in all conditions!

Hobart lockers?? You know that lincoln lockers are better than hobart lockers!

How about an Auburn in front and lunchbox in back? Yeah, selectable would be better but this economy is making many of us consider less expensive choices.

IMHO, lunchbox front and rear with longs..

If you have the money for one selectable, put it in the rear. Your turning radius will thank you..

im on the same page here as well.

tho i enjoy the detroit in the rear more than i did the aussie in the same place. seems to be a little less quirky on the street.

X2 .. in my case was better than the EZ locker ..

Dumb question but does an auburn need/work better with the lsd friction modifier additives they sell for other lsd?

I have an auburn in my 60s rear and not very impressed. Well, road manners are better than my 40 with detroit but thats about all.

what are you not impressed about?

on the road on flat ground they will usually spin both tires as long as traction is close to equal VS. a single trac that will usually spin only 1 tire regardless of traction conditions.

Limited slips are not for off road because they pretty much suck, im my personal opinion for any off street use a complete waste of money even more so due to their price.

In a SWB 40 any type of rear locking diff will be much more noticeable than the exact same locker in a 60 due to the much longer wheel base.

My dodge 3/4ton has a factory rear limited slip in the DANA 80 and it is fine for the most part but sometimes in a corner when i drop the clutch it will only spin 1 tire and not 2 like would be desired for optimal white smoke rolling off of the rear tires through a turn. I would like to run a rear detroit or something in the back of this truck but i dont have a specific need as when i race it i use 4wd high. if it was a 2wd truck or if it saw ANY off road i wouldnt hesitate for a second on the rear locker.
