Figured I’d start a thread here to document my road trip from Austin to Maine and back this summer in my 1990 FJ62. I’m taking my son to summer camp for 8 weeks and will spend the summer up there as well. I thought it would be helpful in case of any vehicle troubles along the way! I bought this rig back in September of 24 and have put in a lot of work to get it “ready” for the trip.
Axle rebuild, all new brake components and lines, rebuilt the transfer case, new kickdown cable (thanks to AJ Yotas), new radiator and all new hoses, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, cruiser Matt’s replacement fuel vent lines, his caster shims, and his throttle cable, torfab LED headlights with the all 4 on harness, all the fluids (a few times)! And definitely more little things I’m forgetting!
I’ve already taken it on a few shakedown adventures out to west Texas and New Mexico and found some issues that I’ve fixed. I’m sure I’ll come across some more on this trip.
Shout out to @RevISK for helping me get the brakes dialed in and coolant system burped properly!
