I hope there is enough interest for this. I know it's not a huge money maker and sincerely appreciate @bhicks considering doing this.
Sounds like 8 people are interested (6+two for me). Maybe a couple more people will jump on board. If not I may just buy the extras for future 80 series purchases.

I might consider giving this a shot. Note that I'm no expert. I too have no ashtray, because if anyone smokes in my truck I'm putting them in it!
I'd like to fit maybe 2 or 3 of the "normal" rectangular switch blanks in there.

Will they fit vertically? You can print up a good bit of material in the "depth" dimension and I don't think it would go anywhere.
Something like this? (not based on any real measurements)

This is a project I'm open to developing. I'm just about done with my list of projects I previously commited to. The 91-94 Aluminum TEQ grille badge is read for market, and the 60 series and 2nd Gen 4Runner Cup Holders are getting close. Once those are done and up on my website then I can shift over to this. I will be developing the same ashtray USB charger port for the 3rd Gen 4Runner guys at the same time so all of the wiring and plugs for mockup have already been purchased. I think I should have all of the current projects done by the end of this month and can knock out this new project in October. November and December are my CRAZY busy season so there will be on R&D going on then.
If there is someone else who wants to take on this project, I am fine with stepping down. Just shoot me a PM and let me know you want to take it on. Just need to know by the end of this month. I have plenty of projects and products to deal with right now so new products isn't a high priority for me.

I ran one of the above off super quick. I think my size is way off but I'll run outside and check how bad it is.
Now that I actually own a caliper, I ought to take some measurements of the hole and see what I can come up with. FWIW mine is still just an open hole.
If I ever get the 80 put back together (currently dueling with exhaust manifold studs) I'll see what I can come up with.
I would take one with two horizontal square holes for the 97 dash

Well, I am missing the same ashtray because I will eventually get the CB in there. I can make some measurements and throw something together using either sheet ABS or black Delrin. I can whip up something with multiple Toyota switch holes or several round holes. I have a mill that is eager to please 
Go for it! You are not stepping on any of my toes if you want to make and sell something.
