I found this picture on google images, but I can't find any information on it. When I click on the page, the picture can't be found anywhere.

This looks like very late model 40 series with carpet and different rear seats. Does anybody know where these seats can be found (assuming they're not factory)?

Looks like a JDM BJ46.

83-84 because of late model dash
BJ46 because of transverse rear seats
JDM because of RHD

I think the brown, zebra fabric was a hallmark of LX models worldwide but I don’t think that the brown and zebra automatically designated LX on JDM models.

Thanks for the input! I just googled it and found >this image< which shows possibly a different style seat which seems to be front-facing and extend over the wheel wells. Very good info! I wish I could buy these seats somewhere

Good thread and info here:

Correct.

2430 mm vs. 2285 mm, per @Economist LC76

For the record could be a 82 model. While LHD for a insert dash 10/82 (83 model) the RHD for it 10/81 (82 model). LX models were in other markets the BJ46 was an JDM cruiser. Possible a few made it outside Japan but most all seem to have come from the JDM.

I believe it’s the Australian version BJ42RV-MCQ or FJ40RV-MCQ from 10/82.
It’s a short wheel base (the trunk is small)
This version has a vent window and 3 wipers - Australia (Japan didn’t have it).

Bj46 is pretty common throughout the EU. But most of those are lhd.

All soft top models. Doubt FST had an cloth seat option. Show RHD ended 10/82 in Europe. The LHD did have a H55F for 83/84 models but still only show soft tops available in Europe.

I remember seeing a BJ46 for sale here from Europe. It had a hard top but wasn't a factory top. I know mid wheel base 40 series made it to Colombia but all those were soft top model or hard top with a hard top made locally. For what ever reason mid wheel base hard top models were hard to find out of the JDM. Many JDM models had the brown cloth interior with forward facing rear seats. A/C, power steering and PTO winch. Would be worth RHD for one equipped like that.

Sorry, thought you guys were just speaking of bj46’s, not specific options on bj46’s!

Sorry? You were right about the BJ46. Wasn't aware so many made it out of Japan. Was thinking most those were BJ44s. Not sure what SA was getting just not hard tops.

How are you doing Abe? Been a long time since we communicated. Have any 83/83 FJ43s out of Europe? Believe @SugarBear said you had a few European 40 series. That was a few years back when I was working on getting a 40 series H55F stateside.

Sorry for the slow reply! I’m doing well overall. We’re staying safe & healthy & all that. One thing this pandemic has shown me is that I need a new job. I’ve had no real time or energy for ages, to do the fun things in life, but suddenly working from home & not commuting every day & im getting caught up on all sorts of stuff finally! Hopefully I can keep up the momentum & maybe get a job closer to home & really gets back on my game soon.
Regarding trucks, my understanding is that Columbia allowed tax breaks on import for “farm trucks”, so they were generally imported with no top at all to qualify. Then OEM soft tops were added in country, or the FRP aftermarket tops. I’m not sure about Europe, but I know that most of the 43’s & 46’s there were soft tops also. The OEM hardtop isn’t super common there either. Presently, we’ve got an 83bj46 here, and a 77bj43 bitch from the EU. One Belgian & one french, if recall. But they could both be Belgian, I don’t remember for certain. Although we are going to sell the 83 so that we can put money into the 77 bj43 (Erica’s truck). We don’t have any gas trucks from the EU, just diesel ones.
