I just installed my bull bar today, lot easier than i thought it would be. That's why i think i did something wrong. It only required 4 bolts to install. What are all of the extra bolts for? Don't i need to drill some holes for reinforcement?

Post up some specific pics of this.....there was more than one ARB bar for the 40 at one time...

I would venture to think there are more than 4 mounting points...

got pics?

Ok here are the only two bolts holding the bumper to the frame, there are no other holes, and i can't seem to find anywhere else to drill holes either.

Take a shot a bit further back so I can see what is going on...

Nice and shiny!

here is pic that i had before, it's at night, i'll get better close up pics where it mounts tomorrow. But you can see that the bumber is mounted fine, it doesn't rattle, and i've driven about 100 miles with it mounted with no problems.

Hey, Badass... do you prefer this new style over the older??? are you planning on adding a winch??

I've seen em before but dude, that thing is huge! You could get the bull, a cow and a couple of calves as well.

Nice

I got the bumper from a guy who sells offroad accesories on ebay, the bumper was 549, and 200 shipping. It was the same price from any other dealer as well. I guess it depends on where your located. I'm pretty sure i mounted it correctly. It took 15 minutes tops.

dude - I can't fathom that huge thing is solid/stable with 4 bolts... onto to the top... and only to the frame rails. something don't seem right there... and you want to add a winch also????

Stupid thing didn't even come with a sheet that tells me where all the bolts go. There's an ass load of extra bolts left over.

Is that bumper one piece?

I've done 2 ARB bunpers. Not a 40 though.
Brackets that mounted to the frame rails slid onto them. not on top of frame rail.

Thats what I'm seeing in 1st pic. Doesnt look right.
Just a thought.

It appears that there are plates that drop down along side the frame where you have the two bolts mounting your bumper to the top of the frame rail….Is this in fact how it is? Are there any holes in those side plates?

Being that the original side gussets used in conjunction with the triangular top plates to secure the bumper to the frame appear to be missing I would suspect that there needs to be a few fasteners used to secure the bumper to the frame from each side, along with what you have already installed on top of the frame.

And lastly, where are your fitting instructions?

When all else fails, read the directions.

Wow.. I hope that statement doesn't come back to bite you in the rear end of your bull bar.

Good luck bud.

the frame extenders (side brackets, #7) had been removed from my truck as well (apparently to improve approach angle as it allowed the bumper to be mounted further towards the body) - we had to fabricate new ones to mount a 4+ bumper - fortunately, the triangular piece was still there

I would contact ARB in Seattle, their customer service is TOP NOTCH... they will be able to send you the instal sheets or give you a link to what you need to see if it is on right.

Boy it looks good though!
