I want somthing I can completely cut out my bedsides (leave the top 1" for hardtop) and weld or bolt onto a remainig skeliton and or cage. I want from the rear doors to the front doors! stout smooth steel thick guage for wheelin'. With the popularity of 40's, why does no one make somthing like this? Not the cheezy alum diamond plate crap. I found a fella here in the denver area who will roll it out for a couple hundred a side without the wheel well cut outs, any other ideas? pics?

Not the clearest of questions but I think you are looking for thicker rear body panels for a 40?

Search "Walter Moses" and you might find what you're looking for.

Warrior Products makes smooth rear corners for FJ40s.

Have a local steel shop make them for you.
If you don't want the wheel well cutouts, they shouldn't be too expenive.

It's either a 6" radius bend or a 12" radius bend.
PM stumpy here he had a steel shop in Salt Lake make him some quarter panels, and they were nutso cheap.

I guess I could just but the complete sheet have the radious rolled and cut my own wheel wells, just thinking what to do with the gas door are and rockers.

He had them in stock last time I spoke to him, 2 weeks ago. The corners aren't radius but it is hard to tell they are not. They 3/16" thick. If it is a trail truck it doesn't matter. If you want it to be a radius put diamond plate over it.

Contact Bud about shipping, they are heavy, and price. I haven't bought a pair but am considering them.

I'd second any local sheet metal shop. I did these myself. I used about 16 guage or so (I don't remember) stainless. I just used heavy paper and cut a pattern that I wanted. Then I transfered to the sheet of stainless and cut it just a little big with a plasma and cleaned up the edges. I used small hex head machine screws with nuts/washers inside to hold em in place. I bent the radius myself without a jig simply by eyeballing it. Stainless is pretty stiff, so I think they will provide pretty good protection and you could get similar protection from a thinner sheet. And they'll never rust! I wanted something unique so I gave em a brushed look with a sanding disk. I think you could do something similar for your corner and side panels. I did these cheap 'cause I got a big sheet of stainless a guy at the steel yard dropped on it's corner for $100. I only used a small portion for these corners, but I think one sheet would be more than double what you need.

Pete, THANKS! that is what I was looking for! ...ummm what do you mean they are not radious, they look pre-bent to me:confused:

They appear to be step bent. You can see it if you look at the picture.

JC he means that its not exact toyota spec. the radius of the bend is either more or less.

I just ordered a set from Bud for my son's Xmas. I'll post up pics once he gets them installed.

BTW, Bud is a great guy to do business with.

Its a 6" radius. Any metal shop with a brake and competent operators can make them. If you're looking for an arc to follow for the outside edges of the quarter panel that wrap towards the front, you can copy the arc from the bottom of the hard top nearest the hatch.
