Hi All, my engine block is missing the PS pump mounting hardware and I was wondering if anyone knew the part number for the stud that the PS bracket mounts to on the front of the engine block next to the water pump? The rest of the bolts and nut would be helpful too but the stud part number I definitely need. Any help would be appreciated. I cant find this information in the EPC. (Pictures are from another MUD thread).

All the power steering bracketry has been discontinued. A workaround for that stud coukd likely be found at a place like McMaster Carr or Bolt Depot if you can figure out it’s size.
Here’s the drawing of the PS bracket. Part numbers are there too.

Thanks @OSS I couldn't find a diagram like the one you linked in the EPC I was looking at. I think I might be able to cross reference these part numbers to find the correct size, pitch, and length and find something that could work from Toyota for the stud and possibly other hardware as well.

I'm sure that Toyota will have the stud you need. Go to your local dealer parts counter with the appropriate part number for you model year. They should be able to cross reference that part number to one that is currently available. These seem to be similar studs as what are used for the manifold.

Another way would be to check the hole diameter, then try bolts of that size to get the thread pitch. According to the parts diagram, early models have fine thread (1.5 mm/thread) and late models have coarse thread (1.25 mm/thread)

You can go to an autoparts store to get the stud. The short section needs to be threaded like the hole in the block. The long section doesn't really matter as you can get a nut that fits it.

Thanks, @2mbb I have the thread measuring tool and a thread chaser for those M10(?)x1.25 and M10(?)x1.50 threads. I'll run those through and see how deep the threads go to find an equivalent stud. I'll repost once I get one that works and will accommodate the bracket and a nut and washer too for the exterior thread length in case someone needs it in the future.🙏

If it's M10x1.25 you could probably use a stud from an axle housing, the type of stud for mounting a differential.

I was able to measure it. It's a M10x1.50 thread hole. About 17.5 mm deep. Slightly less deep than the water pump bolt holes that are around 22 mm deep.

Thanks @ToyotaMatt do you know of a Toyota stud with M!0x1.50 threads on both sides? I could cut to length if its too long for the threads and use a lock washer on the bracket side to hold it tight.
Thank you.

@garfieldthecat

Carlos, that 92112-61028 is still readily available from the dealer for $2

You have a 1987 FJ60, right?

Hi @Spike Strip the truck is a 1982 but the engine I am building for it is a 1984. I think I read that the threads went from M10x1.50 to M10x1.25 in 1985. The engine I have still has the M10x1.50 threads for both the water pump and this bracket stud. I can try ordering that 92112-61028 stud and seeing if it works. Not sure if it has the hybrid threads like @ToyotaMatt mentioned, but as long as I can get a nut and lock washer on to hold the bracket I think it will work. Thank you

I ordered some hardware from the local Toyota dealer based on the part numbers I got through this thread. Should be able to pick up within a couple of days. I'll try them out and list part numbers that may or may not have worked. Thanks

The change is 10/84 - EPC says thread changed from 1.5 to 1.25

You should find a 10mm 1.5 bolt and see if it threads in that hole. The earlier stud has been discontinued, but seems to be available from Forklift places as 90116-10006-71 if the stuff you got doesn't work.

Yup, I chased the thread out last night with a thread chasing kit I have and its definitely M10x1.50. I'll check the stud I ordered and if it doesnt fit, I'll look for that other stud you sent me the number for.

So I was able to find a hybrid M10x1.50/1.25 stud. This was after ordering the M10x1.25/1.25 stud. That stud would certainly work in the newer blocks with M10x1.25 threads
