Anyone know a good structural engineer in Utah?

Four trips without giving you a clear understanding of what is wrong is absurd no matter how you look at the process.

The last engineering firm hired considered that job security/billable hours.

Planning and zoning are the worst, but when looking at future workload and scheduling, I can plan on six months worth of redlines and revisions in most municipalities building code enforcement, minimum.

They have to justify the department and positions, yet they'd miss the forest for the trees.

I feel sorry for you guys. Most recent project the reviewer sent back a list of seven items on my end - pretty much just verifying information that was elsewhere that he wanted listed on the cover sheet.

I had more problems with the owner changing his mind every week and wanting things done differently - floor to ceiling windows, no, wait, 10' tall windows, no, wait, a 3'4" sill with windows to 8'... And that was just windows... And then he wonders why the drawings aren't done and why I'm billing him for extra time. Of course, he didn't want to do any preliminaries because he knew "exactly what he wanted" and wanted to start construction "immediately" so everything was a rush and the changes always came right after I had fully completed the last change...

I was thankful when we finally submitted it to the code department because the owner finally understood that we'd have to go through the whole review process all over again if he made any further changes.
