I've been needing a stouter seat for some time now - but keep putting off due to a lack of knowledge about whether or not aftermarket sliders are required?

Looking at the Corbeau RS suspension seats - to be installed in a 76 FJ40. I don't remember if my passenger seat slides or not - and also plan on installing a cage with integrated seat supports in the near future.

Do you need sliders for a passenger seat in a 40? Do the Corbeau seats require the Corbeau sliders to install easily?

Any pics?

corbeau seats

i have the exact same question... i wonder if the corbeaus will fit in the stock seat frames.. or is some custom work mecessary?

i have those in mine and i used their sliders that was simple. i had to drill the holes in the sliders to mount the seats. the cage i have has bars to hold the sliders. heres a picture. if you need more just ask. if you look at the roll cage look at where the seats go you will see the craddle. you asked if the pass seat needs a slider, well neither one needs a slider if you dont need adjustment. the sliders they offer are basic and easy to make work. but you can use any slider you want. you just might have to make work

Perfect! I like how you suspended the seat cradle from the bar behind the seat. That's one solution I was in need of...

Adjustability - I'm short, 5'7" ironically with pretty long legs. My girlfriend, who rarely drives the 40 is around 5'2", my son who drives it whenever he can is 6', and my Pop who doesn't like driving it anymore is well over 6' - so sliders for both driver and passenger are kinda needed :D.

Any comments on the quality of the corbeau sliders - simple is good, but prone to rust or flimsy isn't. Any pics?

Also - are the seat mounting tabs similar to the 40 seats? Any pics.

Sorry for so many questions.

Thanks to all - both the link and the pics helped immensely. Better understand what the products look like and how they mount.

I just installed Baja SS seats in a '73. Sliders were super easy to install. BUt then again I was installing into a rollcage not onto the original brackets.

Passenger seat didnt get sliders to keep the seat lower (otherwise with the gas tank and sliders the passengers head was almost out the top).

And who cares if the passenger has sliders.....if they wanna ride in my FJ they get what they get! ;)

i have the moabs in mine aswell, very stout sliders, but mine is a 79, a little diffrent

Mounted on the stock frames the seat sit to high IMO. Making new frames is not that diffficult and you will be happier in the long run. The sliders are geally good and take up less space than stock.

I ended up hacking off the factory 40 slider on the DS and making it work with my corbeaus. I also built a new seat framework from 1.5" t ubing and just welded them in. The PS should be set for a 6' person, not needed to be adjustable. That way atleast nobody is cramped.
Easy solution= buy sliders
better solution, make something custom work. That way it's set how YOU like it, not just the general consensus of R&D by some company trying to please the greatest # of people. Dig?
