Anyone here running these 9" EBay HID lights?

I've been running el cheapo 100 watt 7" spotlights from Northern tool (13 of them in all) and although I love how bright they are, the mounting brackets aren't exactly holding up that well

I'm currently building a new roof rack and would like to possibly replace the fronts with larger 9" lights (five of them)

Anyone here using these EBay lights?

So are these things really HID's?

I mean, do they have a built in power transducer with HID bulbs or is it just a regular halogen bulb that they re-named "HID"?

those specific that my buddy have are true HID with integrated ballast .. ( we actually open one case to verify that .. )

I had a set of 4" just like the ones in the first link. They were way brighter than any 6" halogen. They are true HID's. Sold the Heep they were on but the 6 months they were on there I had no problems w/them. They sell the same ones @ Checkers/O'reilly Auto Parts if you want to go put your hands on some. Also sold under the brand HIDx.

I use the DDM lights in all of my applications, headlights, Hella 4000 HID conversion and now my KTM headlight. 55w ballasts, delectable color temp on the bulbs, weatherproof connectors and lifetime warranty. Have had great luck with these guys.

How do you like the 4000's with the HIDs? I have been debating on swapping mine out for an LED bar, but the cost of an HID conversion is pretty nice.

OK, I pulled the trigger on a pair of flood beams for my bumper

I figured if I was satisfied with the quality, I'd order a set of 5 for my new roof rack (still under construction)

Did a test fit on the rack and it looks like I'll be splitting a couple of millimeters within the loop I made

So now I'm on the hunt for matching lights with a spot beam, but it seems all the sellers on EBay either have flood beams or a completely different light design than what they have listed in their listings

This is what I'm looking for.....

However, they either list the first photo or both and each seller I've asked in advance is selling the other style cause apparently, the ones that say "HID" on the front rings are being phased out due to legal reasons

What about putting the 4" on your rack? Mine were a euro beam, which is a wide spot. It was better for hog hunting gravel roads in the hill country. Floods didn't throw far enough & spots were like pencils.

I'm replacing the old 7 inch spots with the 9 inch HID's

I made the loop larger to accommodate 9 inch lights, but these lights actually measure over 10 inches, so I'll be cutting it extremely close

OK, I found a vendor on Amazon and they assured me the lights they had listed were exactly what would be sent.

They arrived today exactly as described

Can't wait to finish up the rack and get it mounted

The spots were a little more than the floods at $65 a piece (free shipping)

Thing is, everywhere else I went either had a disclaimer saying they will choose what type of beam you get at random or flat out tell you that the lights they're sending looks nothing like the ones they had listed

The Amazon seller was much more reassuring and made sure I got the ones I wanted
