Anyone have close up photos of the JDM fan installed?

Thinking about picking one up from Dan before the Summer starts, but I've read that it bolts up to the OEM condenser...

When I bought my rig, the dealer replaced the condenser, but I'm not sure if it's an OEM of aftermarket unit :hmm:

Anyone have closeup shots of the fan installed showing the mounting holes and whatnot?

Rick

I just put one on my truck last friday- the tabs on the condensor are behind the grill and to the left (pasenger side) you will see a rectanguler mounting tab on the bottom left and a regular tab top left- then the fan attaches via a tapped hole on the right beside the oil cooler- just go out and pop your hood- youll know if you have them- Fan bolts up very easy. i wired mine up to come on when the a/c comes on but lots of folks have wired thiers via toggle switch as well. Oh and the fan comes with no hardware so be prepared to take it to Home Depot to source some bolts-

here ya go, as you can see, it bolts to the support and a tab off the condensor.

I'm sure this has been discussed somewhere, but that looks exactly like the front pusher fan on a 3.0 V6 4 runner that I saw the other day. Probably not the same thing though.

Edit: Apparently they are different. However, I wonder if you could rig a 4runner fan up if they are any cheaper brand new. They seem close to the same size.

So it's just one bolt on each side holding it up?

None on the bottom anywhere?

Happen to have Part Number for it?

Well there is a third, there are two vertical to each other on the right and one on the left.

as long as its a push instead of a pull and if you can get it mounted you can use pretty much whatever you want. I just went JDM because its literally bolt on. Took me more time to find bolts to use then to actually attach it. Of course I had the grill off already at the time sooo...

Is surprise me, that no one in USA could find a bold on aplication ( like flex a lite or other any brand ) tu run a pusher fan in front .. instead the factory fan.

Not exactly bolt on but many people have found fans that fit (up to 14" IIRC). They just have to fab up mounts when not using the factory option fan.

Do any of you that have done this mod mind sharing what size bolts and any other hardware that are needed? I am planning to do this to my supercharged LX450 when I get back to the states and time is on the essence as I only have 14 days.

Actually you can use the cheesy zip tie mounts that work just fine with the 14" since it is so tight. Super easy, cheap, and moves a bunch of air.

If you are fitting the JDM Cruiser fan to a factory A/C condensor you will need 3 6mm bolts about 10mm long.

ya I know fab mounts or use some kind of tie wrap will funtion .. I was just searching for something more closer to factory look .. metal ring ( shroud ) at least ..

Thought I will end with some aftermarket fan and fabing mounts ..

I have a universal one on mine and works great.

OK, got around to installing it today and figured I'd snap some pix

The install was basically 1-2-3 as expected, but I just want to point out the mounting tabs for those wondering if they have an OEM condensor or not :meh:

As you can see, one tab is threaded on the fan itself, while the others are threaded on the condensor tabs (no need to buy nuts)

I'll work on the wiring later this week as I'm still debating on whether I want it to work manually or automatic :hmm:

(Sorry in advance if this has already been answered)):
what is the advantage (assuming your fan clutch is working), what is the cost, and does the US wire loom have the correct connector for this JDM fan, or do you have to wire it up yourself? Does it have a built in adjustable automatic thermostat or is it meant to be a manually operated auxilary fan to be used in rare situations??

one wonders how much obstruction to air flow this represents when it's not running, though... IOW, when it's not running your engine will run hotter than if it were not there...

1) My A/C isn't as cold when sitting at idle during Summertime heatwaves in FL.
Once moving (or when the condensor is sprayed with water), it gets ice cold again....
I already have a new blue fan clutch...

2) I got it for $240 through my local dealer.
I would usually buy from Dan, but the price was the same and I didn't have to pay for shipping.

3) Nope, I'll be hardwiring it myself.

4) Nope, just a basic motor.

5) There are basically 4 ways to wire it.
a) Manually switched relay (works only when you switch it)
b) Automatic switched relay (works everytime you turn on the A/C)
c) Thermostatic switched relay (works when the temps get hot and automatically shuts off when it cools down)
d) Pressure Switched relay (works off the A/C pressure signal and automatically shuts off/also provides after-run time with the key off)

Since I don't really have a problem with the cooling system and only need the aux. fan during hot idle, I'm leaning towards a manually switched relay :hmm:

So far, I haven't noticed a difference, but it really isn't that hot today :meh:
