My wife and I are in for the weekend in Goodyear. she drove over from Cali in our locked LX, no lift on 33's. Just curious if anyone knows of any scenic trails within a short drive of Goodyear. She leaves with the LX on Monday, but I will be in town until next Sat. Would love to meet up for dinner w/ any of you local mudders later in the week if possible.

Man, I wish you'd have posted up a while ago, the people in this forum are always ready to help, but you haven't given us much time. I don't know the Goodyear area all that well or I'd make some suggestions. Hopefully you'll get some bites.

North of I-10 and Watson road there is an area with some moderate trails/washes. Not terribly scenic but in the desert

I am thinking of a picnic a top the Harquahala Peak Observatory. Anyone ever been there? Is it too risky alone? I am locked and just flushed the cooling system and filled up with fresh Toyota Red. Any feedback is appreciated.

i think walmart and target have bought most of the land out that way anticipating all the new homes and middle class consumers:flipoff2:

the peak observatory is nice, you can do that. get a cheap map and look for eagle tail mtn, thats a nice area too. not alot of real trails in that area but plenty of rough dirt rds of varying width to explore, ther are some real nice hidden places all around the area SW of goodyear/buckey.
i think prolly the best would be to pack up for the day and head out to bill williams reserve on the colorado river.

Been there, done that, worth the trip. Should be easy breezy for you but take a phone just in case:D

donde esta bill williams reserve? I have no idea where to go or how far it is from here....google was not much help.

Thanks

second the Harquahala Peak Observatory; fine trip, nice view; not too difficult; we did it with a single vehicle several years ago

if you are heading in that direction, there is also a dirt road to Wickenburg that comes by Vulture Mine; a lot of that mine is preserved and neat to look at; there are some more side trails, but I don't think they are very challenging

we are going to leave to go to the peak in about an hour. Going to take a picnic and a camera. If anyone wants to head there last minute we will be there for most of the afternoon.
