what a great day :D, we only got lost in the very beginning  (overshot the exit from Beeline by about 10 miles or so)

maybe it is best summed up in the following words (spoken like this or similar :p):

"we're gonna do something close to home so we can be out early"

"Log Corral is just about 500 feet of rock garden and then it's all sandy wash"

"Powerline, of course, is regularly serviced - it is pretty much a graded dirt road with some off-camber wash-outs"

really, I haven't been on a trail in a long time that I needed to run so much time in first gear

I also lost a mirror :frown: but retained the holding nut

and I got some noteworthy stuffing myself into holes on ruts and a memorable wheelstand in :flipoff2:

what FREAKED me out though, is, that once we were finally parked on the side of the paved road at 7:45pm, my truck (engine shut off, in first gear and handbrake pulled) started rolling towards me

while I called Ben and Kevin for help and they went , I was luckily able to stem myself into the quarter panel and stop it  PHEEEWWW

again, great fun, great company, and great scenery :bounce:

Great day, great people.

For those with a chance, I highly recommend running a trail or two (they usually do several days at a time) with the Germans and/or brothers Kevin and Rob. Always a great time. I jump at every chance I get. :D

Hey, tried to respond to your PM but your box is full. Nobody responded so I ended up hitting the Zoo with the fam. Might want to do something next Saturday morning. Invsted in the Massey book and I was thinking of knocking some of those trails off around Butterfield Pass. Wife keeps me on the easier stuff with the family in tow :crybaby:

Thanks for the reply, we can't go on Saturday, but please post here or start a new thread, others may want to join.

Yeah! Montana Mountain trail, my typing is slower than my thinking.
Howdy! I ran it a year ago. Go east on US 60 to Florence Junction and after it turns into a 2 lane hiway there is a railroad crossing. Turn left just before the tracks on the paved road to Queen Valley. In a mile or so, there is gravel turn to the right that crosses the tracks. Take the gravel down to the bottom of the valley, which is Queen Creek. As you drive along the bottom, there is a left turn that fords the creek. It is Forest Rd 172. Follow that north 6 or 7 miles in Hewitt Canyon. Bear right on 172A to get to FR 650, eastbound. It runs the southern border of the Superstition Wilderness. We could not make it all the way to Oak Flat Campgrounds, east of Superior, so we dropped south into Superior on FR 650. I have been told that the trail are open now to go all the way thru. Sound like fun to me, and the scenery if fab!! When are you going to run it? John

Friday was mostly lost,,, or exploring (depending on the viewpoint:D) the first mountain range west of Bumble Bee. Great views, easy cruising, mostly on ridge tops or relatively wide shelf roads. The road we came down off of the ridge on was cool, just went off the edge, like driving down the escalator on Charouleau Gap.

Once down in the canyon there were a couple of steep washes to cross and some tight brush. It is a good area for stocker exploring, I would rate the trails we ran at almost a 3.

Lots of mine structures. The last one is pure redneck, looked for the sign, something like; We ceep owr stuf in ther, you awl keep out!:hillbilly:

Neat trail, relatively easy 3.0 stuff, a couple of slightly washed out climbs and some small rock action in the creek were the obstacles that I remember, a couple of sections have tight brush. Doable in a stocker, but a slight lift and one size larger tires would make it easier.

In some areas the brush was very tight and there were a bunch of springs, placed to get the tires wet just before you needed to climb a rock!
