Any one got the new rear sliding widow from SOR??

I would really like to get some rear sliding windows for my 60. I've done searches and found that the previous ones didn't fit well. I'm wondering if someone has installed these newer ones? If so do the fit well? Pics would be great.

I looked into doing this, but it seems as though even the newer ones have had some problems sealing up, and just cannot bring myself to add another hassle. I'd love to do a set of the "domed" versions, but again they can be difficult to procure.
In the end, the decision to upgrade other items on my rig won out. If you decide to go with the SOR's please post up!

I understand that one. If I buy these I'm going to have the rest of the glass tinted the same.

It would make a lot more sense if they had kept them clear. You can always tint later...

I bought a set in Australia last year, and I haven't put them in yet. I'm worried about the seal and whether it may leak.

question: why would the seal be any different than the 'stock' version from a 62? or were there issues with them out of the box?

Mine are aussie and leak-free.. why would they leak? Installed (temp but becoming long-term) with butyl tape and clips.. search for threads here for install details.

I never thought I would want sliders until I owned an 80 with them. I actually use them all the time. On my 80 I have 3rd row seats, so I actually open the slider to fasten my kids seatbelts then close it again. Or if the dog is in the vehicle he gets a treat too.

the tint on those SOR ones looks to be about the amount of tint I would like on my cruiser. Not too black.

No personal experience but I did talk to a guy who was selling his glass after putting them in. He said they fit well and didn't leak. 2nd hand info, take it for what it's worth.

I actually just put them in.... I had the old 2 piece sliders before and they were less than spectacular.

it seems to seal up really well... however if it does start leaking I plan on injecting a sealant around the outside between the rubber and the truck itself.

on another note: make sure you get the vertical pinch welds as flat as possible before putting them in (they start out slightly curved). You won't have to pull the window back out (like I did :whoops when you find out it it sticks out and the rubber doesn't want to seat all the way onto the truck.

I put 4 hours working them in tonight and in the end still didn't succeed. I have put several windows in the back of mini trucks and thought it would be simple. NOT THE CASE! I'm sure that once I get them in the dogs will love the airflow but they are NOT easy to install.

No sure how you missed my thread in the search. Hammer and a block of wood, bang the pinch weld until it's straight and they'll go in.

I dont know if it applies but I used a plastic bicycle tire lever to put my rear hatch glass in on the 80. Made it real simple and didnt scratch the paint.

On a side note, will the sliders from an 80 fit a 60? Looking at both the 60 and 80 windows in the drive way they look to be very similar....

I would LOVE to show you pictures BUT alas another 5 hours spent today and still no closer to having a window let alone two. I'm beginning to wonder if $or is having a laugh at my expense. At this point I'm seriously regretting both my purchase of these and my taking out my stock glass.

I believe the problem is that my truck is white. I have seen the windows installed in both the red and blue 60 but alas not the white. Honestly I'm not incompetent I had no trouble doing the knuckles installing the lockers and hell I'm half way thru a engine rebuild and that's not hard but just shoot me now! I CAN"T get these things in. I abondanded the "trim ring" and tried to follow the instructions using rope tried just prying the gasket I think I even tried voodoo and now I'm thinking calling a auto window company.

I haven't seen the newer version but the orginal SORs were junk. Obviously, the OEM "Aussie" rear sliders fit & work. The original gaskets, etc. are now history but there are reasonable replacements.

Tatoo: auto glass is completely unlike all other forms of auto mechanics. I hated it until I got into the biz & can't say I completely love it after 18 years. It has its own logic, & each manufacturer & model has its own take on things.

BTW we installed FrontRange4x4's Aussies (there was a problem) & mine, plus dozens of 60/62 windshields over the years.
