Any one got the new rear sliding widow from SOR??

The glass cleaner for lubricant is only for installation purposes. First the aluminum frame is fitted into the rubber gasket, then the rubber gasket is shoehorned over the window flange of the truck. All the while it's kind of got to be able to adjust as it goes in. Then the glass cleaner evaporates and goes away with a clean rag/paper towel. I wouldn't use grease, get it all over your window, headliner, not to mention the dog!

So because I'm a glutton for punishment I bought the newest set of Spector windows. SO far we got one in but it's not seated as well as I would have hoped and the second window won't seat at all... I don't know if it's just me but seriously this is the new "redesigned window" pictures to come....

Yes, please post pix --

I've been looking at those windows, but have held back due to not wanting to be a masochist...

Good luck

:)

Did I read correctly that the wagongear hatch style windows will be electronic?!?!?! I plan on wagongering my truck with the tailgate lid and the side covers!! This would be a sick add on I look forward to it!!

Tat2matt, dude, you are still dealing with this?? I just thought about this thread the other day.
Yes, put up some pics.

GOT IT! So I used LOTS of Glass cleaner the spray type and a BFH. I'm not 100% happy with the overall fit but when it heats up and I get it out on a trail the flex and warmth should make it seat a bit better I hope.
Sorry for the quality of the pictures it's too cold to go back out with the real camera.

You can see from this picture that the seating isn't perfect.
I still have a set of the previous generation windows if anyone wants them. In hindsight I would have used the BFH method on them and I'm guessing they would have gone in. I shaved some off of one and the other is un molested.

I don't have them but the ones from Wagon Gear look much cooler

THe wagon gear windows are very cool. I wanted windows that opened primarily for the dogs. The wagon gear windows will have nice side access. If the wagon gear windows are as well built as the rest of his offerings they will be a great upgrade.

my 60 had the SOR rear sliders installed when I bought it ...they leaked like a sieve around the rubber seal . I had to use generous amounts of clear silicone caulk to get them to be water tight.

Do you know what generation windows they were? Best I can tell this is the third time they have "redesigned" them. I'm not getting rid of my oem windows yet for just that reason.

anyway to add a screen so you wouldn't have to worry about mosquitoes if you had to sleep in the back??

I'm sure that Spec$or will sell an aftermarket kit for another $300 that will solve this problem. I would have removed them regardless because I wanted the windows so the dogs could stick their heads out and drool on tailgaters.

SOR Sliders

I had a couple of pics earlier, but didn't put in more as I was away. Since then I've been on a big road trip/hunt into northern BC. Snow, sleet, rain and sunshine - normal Sept/Oct weather. I slept in the back with the sliders open, and I couldn't be happier. They work really well, and the latches are solid. Good security since I had a truck full of guns too. I did get a bit of water in the from the tracks the couple of times it snowed that wet, heavy 2" flakes stuff that is so thick the headlights wouldn't melt it, and I had to stop to clean the snow so my wipers would work. Enough talk, I've got pics from in the shop tonight. SOR Rear Sliders 004.webp

I seem to have run out of attachments. I had one more of the window open and one more of the dogs too. I'll send this and try to see if I can attach a second message. I hope these pics help you guys out. I can add, it takes two to install these well and properly. No way I could have put them in by myself.

The windows are a great fit, and the Elk is what the dogs saw from the back. Really glad they weren't out of the truck, would have been hours getting them back!! They are the greatest for the dogs, they love em!:D

I'd like a set of Sliders as much as anyone, but there's a big red subliminal flashing sign throughout the entire discussion that reads "BUYER BEWARE". I wouldn't trust 1st...2nd...3rd or umpteenth generation aftermarket reliability. However, if you're a Cruiserhead and just love your sliders but they leak, my only question is "What the H___ does it take to P___ you off!

Great looking truck Pilot, question did you adjust your pinch weld at all? I adjusted my DS and I'm thinking about taking the window out and doing it over with less angle. I'm wondering if that has anything to do with leaks.
*88, Seeing that my truck is FULL of aftermarket reliability like lockers, suspension, bumpers etc I guess mostly it takes to "piss me off" are grocery getters.

I didn't touch anything on the truck. When I installed the windows, I put the window in the opening without the rubber moulding. There wasn't much clearance, the trick I believe is to not have any 'bunching' of the rubber moulding. I have a bit on one point of one window. I think I should have pushed the window out and redone it.
I can't see the welds effecting this. Check the paint/sealing around them. Water and leaks don't need much to have an effect. Segway-I lost 12 litres of oil at 60 psi in 45 min through a crack in aluminum on an engine. The crack was 11/4" long and thinner than a hair.
88retied62: I needed a slider. I will compromise that had Toyota built this window, it wouldn't leak. But mine only leaks when it is packed over with heavy wet snow. I live on VrIsl, it rains like a sonofab*&*%&h, it doesnt' leak then. I'm happy with these.
