True, I stand corrected.
Now this thing has a great lift. I can't tell from the pic. Is it SOA?

Alvaro

Yup, great clearance, too. Old school wheels. Brakes suck, though, it rides like a buckboard, and the exhaust... eeew.

Avoid winter crossings over Donner summit...

(Sorry, I never could resist a good hijack...)

:D

Do you guys ever do the Barrett Lake trail?
I've read a lot about it but never talked to anybody who has driven it.

I haven't been on it, but it's in one of my books. Quote, "Allow at least 3 to 4 hours one way for this 4.3-mile trip." Sounds fun!!

Rusty,

One of the guys on our mailing list did the run this summer. Initially he was going to take his 80. Then he decided against it. And took his 40.
I would like to do it. I'm all for it.

where is barret lake trail? never heard of it , sounds cool though.

The trail head is in the general area of Loon Lake. I don't think I would plan it as a one day trip. One breakdown would be a disaster.

Awwwww man...not rusty... :frown:

:D :flipoff2: :D

Based on what I've been told and from what I've read, Barrett Lake Trail would be very challenging for an 80. A couple spots are supposed to be UGLY for fat, long rigs...like 80s.

Some guys I know make it a 2 day trip -- wheel in, camp, wheel back the next day.

barret lake

I've been there. It's just like the Rubicon. It's off of 50 and the Wrights Lake exit about 10 miles after the ICE House road exit. Or you can get there off of Ice HOuse about a mile from the resort. It'll be open in late summer.

I'm ready when you guys are.

Dylan,

What kind of trails have you run with your rig?
Not to discorage you, but Barret, from what I hear is pretty hard core. Maybe you could join us on a challenging, but easier trail. Say Wentworth Springs for example.

oh definetly no offense taken at all. i have been on enough trails with my dad to know that experience is most important. i have been on many local trails driving my dads 55 and since august when i completed my SOA on my 60, to start getting serious, i have been over local trails with motherlode rock crawlers and with friends. I do know what you are saying, and im not saying you are by any stretch offending me, but i have been frowned at for being 17 and on the trail. Kids have a reputation for being rowdy and stupid, which i am, but not on the trail, i take 4 wheeling very seriously, and practice good maners on the trail. Definetly want to come along_Dylan

I think that reply speaks volumes about your maturity.

i appreciate it man that meens a lot. im sick of stupid chevy guys and jeeps guys scowling at me on me the trails and all the b/s comments. its funny i was wheelin one time last winter with my buddys and at the trail head some a-hole was givin me s*** for it being a toyota and i let it slide. Further down the trail i pulled him out from being stuck, ridiculous, i wanted to drive passed him, but couldn't. ever since then, (and even before that), i have realized i dont want to be like that, and my dad has raised me on toyotas and taught me to respect the trail and the users rgardless of what badge their truck has_Dylan

Dylan,

That's why in my e-mail I keep the invitation open. I think WS could be a blast.
It's no cake walk, especially without lockers. But it sure is fun.

Alvaro

Alvaro,

Count me in on wentworth springs. I rode with you guys a few years ago before I had sliders and it was very fun. Now I'm ready to drive!
