Me and some of my buddies are crawling out of the woods tomorrow, (3/26) and going to prairie (sp?) city for some fun. anyone is welcome to come out, I have never been there so I don't know what to expect......

CaliCruiser,

Prairie City is an "okay" place. It's only good enough to keep you entertained for about half a day. Place ain't all that big, but something for everyone. Theres some rocks, obstacle course with hill climbs, and some longer and muddier climbs. It'd be fine if you've never been there before. FYI, costs $5 to get in, closes at 5PM.

Ko,

I'm cool with whatever is within a half tank of gas. Got any trails you wanna go to? I guess I'll do some research and call you about 9-ish tonight.

Here's some poser Prairie City pics from before the rains.

Hey man,

Just woke up. So me and Ko decided to put the trip off til later, maybe next weekend? He was like "You got a winch? Got lockers? Maybe we should wait for more people then."

Jackson doesn't look like its too far of a trip for Prairie City. Just don't want people to drive for half a day to get there, cuz they're gonna be disapointed. Right now its probably gonna be muddy out there.

I'll head out there with you if you're going. Post back up.

Ya it was a lot like i expected, there were definetly places to challenge yourself plenty if you wanted to. The stair steps and the rock garden were pretty cool and goin back almost to the corner it was very muddy.

I say we start planning a good trip for next sunday.......any ideas???

Cow mountain is pretty fun if your down for the drive. A few hours from Davis depending on traffic. I think they close when it rains sometimes. Not to far from Pillsbury either...

Cow mountain probably is gonna be closed then, as its gonna rain this weekend, again. Just heard the news, and its official. It was the rainiest March in Sacramento history. 20/31 days of rain. And Hwy 80 and Hyw 50 are closed right now due to snow.

Any ideas on where to go? Pillsbury? Kinda far though. Cow mountain is 2.5 hours from Davis, and 3 hours 40 mins from Jackson. I can deal with that, but don't know bout CaliCruiser.

I need to go somewhere though. I'm fiending pretty bad. Need to get my fix. I've been crossing over the curb that separates the parking lots after dropping my girlfriend off at work. And a couple days ago, instead of braking normally, I looked in my rearview mirror to check for other cars, and then engine braked into my turns.

Have you been up to Knoxville North of Berryessa? It's not much of an off road mecca but close enough to get away for a while and try to get stuck...I've been seeing guys playing in the mud right off HWY 80 by the Lagoon exit between Vacaville and Fairfield. Not sure if it's legal but I saw someone stuck getting tugged out while I was driving by.

trips

how about Easter weekend? 14th and 15th of April??? Me and a couple of buddies might be going though wentworth and camping for a night up there.
what do you guy think?
anyone want to join us?

ko

Is that between 80 and 50? I might be moving but if I'm still in the area I'd be down for at least one of the days.

trips

Yes, it off of 50 turn off is Ice House Rd just past Pullock Pines about 8-10 miles. I was just looking on the Pirate BB and I don't think anyone will be able to make it to the trail head? The last I head the closest anyone got was 1/2 mile from the turn off to Loon Lake.

Let me know if you like to do another trail?

Cow mountain or Greenhorn Creek?

WTF!!!

Greenhorn Creek?

Warning: Do not drive all the way up here to play at the creek. This time of year with the rain we have had the creek is (bank to bank) and very deep! Like over the hood and fast moving water. You could lose your rig and or your life.

Many of the head stones in the old Red Dog cemetary read "drowned".

I would love to show you around there this summer on a nice day with no druken people.:)

green erhorn

I remember the last time we we're there. scary, very scary. if the water don't do it something else will.

my only advice is to go in groups (large groups). next time i'm making sure we outnumber them...:)

Just don't pick a day like Winter Fun Fest!

Ko

ya that sucked

Big waste of time and gas.

Way to many people, most of the trails were washed out in the floods and that keept everyone in one spot. And to late in the day.

I should also tell you I never go out there without guns and lots of ammo.

In Fact I used to camp and explore that area with a mounted CAR-15 in the truck with 30 round mag.

Haven't been to Knoxville. If its not that good of an offroading area, I'd rather just head over to Prairie City, probably the same driving distance. But then if I'm headed to Prairie City, might as well keep going up Hwy 50 some more...

Thanks for the heads up on the mud hole, but thats like a 20 mile drive from here? Again, might as well head up Hwy 50...Even if it was closer, I don't really like mud. Did the mud thing once at Prairie City, and the clean up afterwards sucked.

Sam,

Theres a good chance I'll take you up on that offer come summer. Also, how'd you get an evil assault rifle? Had it before 1994?
