My wife has been complaining that she has to give the clutch pedal hell to get our 99' 4Runner started. When I drive it, I dont notice any problem. May be the difference in force exerted by my 6'6" 300lb body compared to her 5'2" 120lbs.

Pedal travel and engagement feel fine.

Just wondering if there are adjustments to be made to change where the sensor engages. Ive told her to just use the override button, but thats not flying.

Thanks for any help.

We had this problem in our old '88 Camry. Had to push the clutch pedal down really hard to get the switch to close, the starter owuld engage. I offered to just remove the switch and jumper it (I've since done this in my '87 pickup), but my wife thought it was a great anti-theft device.

AFAIK, there's no way to adjust it. But I bet if you went outside and looked under the dashboard you could find out pretty easily.

You can bent the tab the switch is hooked to a little. It has prob bent over years of you pushing it to the floor
