I'm glad a few of you agree on the stock wheels, that was the first thing I wanted to do. When I was talking with the original owner I told him I'd seen a few cruisers on this board with yellow paint and either black or gray stock wheels with tall 'n skinny M/T's. Then he told me when he got the truck 5 years earlier it came with the stock wheels freshly powder coated black with new Toyo tires. He said he swapped them out for these wheels because the stockers were 'too damn skinny'.

If the guy who traded these nasty wheels for my stockers is reading, I want them back!

I've been reading the FAQ and Tech sections for the last few weeks to get ready, and I've already picked up copies of the FSMs. Thanks for all the kind words, I'll be sure to post pics of my projects, including the seat mounting situation.

nice looking 40....I see that it was a three on the tree....what's on the floor??...3spd or 4spd???...congrats...

Was a three on the tree, converted to a floor shifter. The entire three on the tree linkage is still there, all the way back to the transmission. I think I'll let it sit there for now, it's just chilling out of harm's way. At least until I decide if I'm going to swap to a four speed.

Nothing too exciting, unfortunately. I replaced all of the drum brake wheel cylinders, found a set of original wheels and hubcaps, and painted the bezel white. Otherwise I've just been driving it. I haven't bought new tires yet, but I was planning on BFG A/Ts. Probably 31x9.5 or 10.5. If I can fit 33x9.5 with longer shackles, I might go that route. Not quite sure how bad the springs are sagging, though. I'll post pics whenever I get the new shoes.

I also found a set of bucket seats out of a '77 40, but I don't have the mounting brackets. I haven't looked hard, but if anybody reading has a set they'd like to sell, I'm very interested!

Nice FJ40. Is that the stk tool bag in the tool box w/the jack?
9130 miles?

Yes, stock tool bag and jack. I'm not positive the tool kit is complete, but it looks really good. To be honest, I haven't opened it again since I first bought it.

The odometer stopped turning a while ago. The numbers are faded, so it could have been some time.
