I chedcked and she uses both the high and low bulbs that we do. Got some plastic polish on the way as well. Those Head Light assemblies are expensive and because they are plastic they get dull and yellowed after a while.
You have to trim about half the top tab, I can't remember, left or right. You also need to shorten the top tap slightly. Easiest way as mentioned is to pull the old bulb and make the new one look like the old one.
Since this will involve some bulb handling, don't worry about fingerprints on the bulb itself while you're working on it. What's important is that you simply clean the bulb well before installing. Informationally, all that happens when you touch the bulb in terms of causing failures is the oils from your fingers cause the glass to expand and contract at diferent rates where the oil is. This causes thermal stress on the glass, and fairly soon it cracks.
When you get done handling it, simply use rubbing alcohol and soak a lint free cloth to thoroughly clean it. Blow off any flecks of dust and allow a few minutes for the bulb to air dry before turning them on. Don't use any cleaner that would leave a residue. Windex is an example of something NOT to use for this reason.
Same here, they ackowledge receipt of my order right away, and told me the low beams are on back order. They said not to worry, because factory is in the US (????) and should not take to long to receive them and ship them. We''ll see....
I had not recieved confirmation of my order, but I just called Mr. Stern and got to speak with him on the phone about the backorder situation. He is expecting the bulbs no later than Tuesday of next week.
Good thing I looked here. I saw today that my CC had been charged on the 9th, but never recieved any confirmation of my low beam order after I left it on the 800 number answering machine, and definitely hadn't heard they were back-ordered.
I just got back from a few days in the Big Apple (lots of 80 sightings), but anyway - my order from CANDLEPOWER was waiting when I got back. Three each of the high beam, low beam and the reverse lights. My order was dated the 8th. He must have run out the next day. I'll be trimming tabs this weekend.
