I Just plugged in the o2 sensor, that was a bitch to reach! Had to use a coat hangar. I filled up the truck, adjusted the kick down cable and messed with the timing a little. Went for a long drive - engine light is out and the truck seems happy.

mileage on this first tank of gas - with one o2 sensor out was - 21 gallons/257 miles = 12.23 MPG. The timing is way advanced - that is where the power is coming from, so we will see once I change the plug, and clean the TB what happens on this next tank.

Iam still not sure about this tranny, It very rough on shifting, not smooth. So Iam going to look into it. I know Scott had it re -done, but I don't have the details.

Also - I had some smoke from the PS rear of the engine, smelled like burnt rubber. Maybe electrical tape or a tie wrap? I'll have to keep a eye on that.

Cool thread!!! Glad to see some folks are keeping their cruisers stock.

Lee was amazed...I hope he chimes in.

You talkin' to me ???? Mark's 62 is sweet. My test drive was only a couple of miles around the hood, but I was very impressed. The only one I've driven that felt as "peppy" was Dunbar's souped up 3FE mated to an H55F tranny. I have my doubts as to how much time Mrs. MMW will actually get behind the wheel.

GT, you know I only venture into chat when I'm too sick to get out of the house. Besides, how would you even know I was there UNLESS YOU WERE THERE TOO! Any further insults and I may not bootleg any more Lone Star swill to Mississippi for ya. :grinpimp:

You coming to Roundup 2008?

Brett Favre Rocks,
Lee

Yeah, but I'm a chat lurker which is different than a chat whore. ;p

I'll be there Friday - Sunday AM. I'm looking forward to seeing this rig. I wonder if driving it will make me change my mind about doing a diesel swap?

Good Morning Sir,

I guess it all depends on what you're after, and which diesel, and whether it's turbo'd or not. I recently checked out a very nice 85 FJ 60 with a 3B conversion (for Mark Peters). Even without turbo assist it "felt" impressive power-wise, not much different than a 3FE, and 24 mpg fuel economy was a big added attraction. Mark bought the truck. Maybe he'll drive it to Gilmer?

Lee the Chat Whore

Do the Diesel swap!!!

on a side not i should be at round up this year would love to shake the hand of the upstanding guy that got me my axle and went the extra mile and all for me.

Greg, what type of diesel swap are you talking about? If you add up the cost of the labor and parts - adapters, ECU,Harness, engine mounts...etc. A new 3FE would be a better cost savings. Even with the cost of gas vs diesel..I feel I still come out ahead.

Now if your looking for Vortec power...that is another story. ;)

Hey, it's your thread. Hijack on.

Isuzu 4bd1t (+ an intercooler)
to an isuzudieselswaper.com adaptor
to a 700R4 (built)
to a AA
to my split case.

This would give me significantly more torque than the 3FE, and most of all would increase my range off-road by a LOT.

I would like to make my 62 a DD again by running grease. I'd get rid of my greasebenz.

Randy and I PM'd and he thinks my cost estimate of $9K is about right. I could recover that pretty quickly running on grease.

Now if we could only get it to run on beer... :D:beer::beer::beer:

I know a guy who would drive the truck from Mississippi to dallas. OMA shipping services.

then you could take out the grease kit and send it to me for my 300SD:grinpimp:

I am a total diesel addict and really want one in my cruiser so many pluses far over weigh the negatives.

Sorry - no picts. It was a typical Monday at Ike's tranny shop. They had to finish two car before a lift was open. Iam going to swing buy on Tuesday and get photos. Left "Blue Bell" there for the night, she won't get lonely:lol: - the is a silver fj60 getting a five speed. Iam sure they will have a night night together.

OK - here are the pictures, vibration is gone and the truck is driving great. The only thing wrong now is that the speedo cable melted! It was brushed up against the muffler. So Iam in the market for a new cable. ;(

Hey, that's my rig you're talking about... I'm hoping they call me soon and tell me to pick it up. We had a bit of delay, CCOT sent the wrong rear main seal. I guess that's why they are 'giving them away' in their clutch kit promo... Most likely in the am. Now I'll be able to show my face at the next meeting....

That's funny - Ike offered to sell me this silver cruiser for $500, said the Tranny was blown and the guy did not want to fix it.. :flipoff2:

Hey - what are you doing with the old 4 speed? do you have to return it for a core?
I took a look at your h55 today and the t-case. Who did you end up getting it from? It's going to be great when it all done. -Mark

Why can't anyone offer to sell me a 60 for $500:confused::confused:

Zack

I'll sell you the silver one pictured above for $501.50, but you will have to get the keys from Austinbear. :D

Yeah, It's got a whole 116k on it. It's old. I'll just hand-em' over, real nice like....Good luck to ya'. :grinpimp:

mmw- I have not even been up there since they started work, so, thanks for the pic. Got the t-case and new H55f (it looked new, right?) from Crusier Parts. They've been great. They're buying back the Fairey (though I told them it was broken) as well as the 4-spd and included shipping both ways. They even bolted the t-cas ean dtranny together (included the seal and oiler kit). However, they are not giving me much for the 4spd, so if you know someone that wants it, let me know. I'll let it go for an honest price...As far as I can tell it's perfectly good, I just wanted the 5-spd...

I'm also having them re-do the clutch and replace the oil pan gasket while they're in there.

In for a penny, in for a pound....
