How cold is cold up there? If I start the Cummins or 7.3 in the low 20's they will blow white smoke for a bit. Especially if I don't get it started on the first try.

Mine smokes like crazy when cold! I could white out my garage if I don't plug in or use the grid heater. Once its warm its good
Indeed. Compared to my 7.3, which sounds like each cylinder is firing off one at a time after waiting forever for the glow plugs to heat up, the Cummins is a pleasure to start in cold weather even if I forget to plug in or turn on grid heater.

Oh the startup video makes me to have the Cummins in the truck Yesterday. Keep us posted excited to see your results.

Must feel good to be so close.

I need a little help identifying a few parts from those who have already done this swap. @gdctaco @cnorm5623 @JuliosLX450

Any idea what this burly bracket/support is for?

There are these two brackets, one is aluminum, the other steel...I have no idea where they go...perhaps part of the throttle linkage assembly?

I am pretty sure all three of these pieces are part of the quick mount /water neck assembly. I don't yet have the main plate that bolts to the side of the block, so I am not sure how the middle peice fits into the equation.

There are three brass fittings. The two in the bag say coolant adaptor sensor bushings. The 3rd piece on the bench was in a bag along with those two unidentified plates above...any idea where these 3 peices fit in?

Yea firs pic is fan hub if you want to run a mechanical fan. Not sure how it works because i just got it last week and i ha e been running for a couole months . second pic the alum piece is your tensioner bracket the steal curved pieces is your alternator top bracket.
Third pic the outer two go together and the middle one goes at the bottom of the quick mount adapter and the fourth pic the stuff in the baggie goes drivers side rear top of block for your heater lines the the single goes in the middle tube from pic 3 for heart return.

Thank you very much...very helpful.

I recall talking to Dustin about the fan shroud, it won't fit around the mechanical fan. The bracket is designed to move the fan over to the passenger and down slightly, so that it clears the battery box.
