I plugged the cooler in and it read 89 degrees and within approx. 1 hour its down to 30.. This is not the fast freeze cycle just normal.

I'll try the fast freeze cycle tomorrow and let you know. This is not on a 12V supply I'll do that test as well and report on times as well.

Also, this unit has a power cut off at 10.4V.. So, it will shut off before it kills the supply battery completely. However, it only has a flashing indicator light to notify you that it has a low volt level.. Sound would be an ideal addition.. I'll have to research that add on option...

I'll be rolling to Salt Lake tomorrow. PIG hunting and whatnot... Anyone know where to get corrugated rubber matting there? I'll try the usual carpet, fabric, and etc.. stores. I think a restaurant supply would have it cheaper than anybody.

Using this for my rear cargo area. it's about 3/32"-1/8" and I think it'll be a nice touch back there with the dog, camping wear and tear, etc...

Thanks man, glad to help on ideas...

You are the 7th person to post or PM me about the panels. I've got the rear doors still to do so, I will do a pic by pic on those in the next few days. It's really simple but, patience is the key.

Wife and I did the cargo panels together but, I did the front door panles primarily by myself today.

Tools and supplies you need....

- thin vinyl in your color choice (appox. 2X thicker than OEM)
- head liner material or similar for padding (less than 1/8" thick)
- adhesive spray (I used Loctite Professional, 1-can for all panels)
- staple gun with 5/32" staples (1/4" are too long, poked through)
- sharpie/ marker
- razor blades (1-per panel, it speeds up the process, better cuts)
- drill and various bits
- jig saw
- sandpaper

Look at post #86 to see the materials. I'll take better up close pics of the vinyl and headliner and post in the next few days.

Like hog hunting or 55 hunting?

I am not sure why the fridges let you go that low. But I am pretty sure that by 10.5v you would not be able to start your truck, But then again I guess it wont completely waste your battery to liquid led so it will still be usable in the future.

Great work as always brother! those panels look sick!
I am not sure if I miss something but brewing a 20$ beer wow, that must have been some hopped up barely wine or something. The most I have ever spent is like 80$ for 4 gallons, not sure what that comes our to per beer but it ant cheap, worth it to get through the winter though ahhahaha

FJ55 hunting with no luck at all. One of these days.

I agree that 10.5V is pretty darn low. Like I said I don't think it will ever go 48 hrs without running. I never divulged this either but, I do plan on a dual battery system in the near future too.

The reason the brew got to 20$ was shipping charges etc... much cheaper at the brewery. But, I do like a good stout.

Alright guys here's a little more detail on the panels.

Strip the OEM panel down to the bare board.

Lay the board on the head liner/backing material and cut tight to the board perimeter and cut out any speaker, door latch, etc... tight as well.

Here's an up close pic of the head liner material I used.

Once the head liner material is cut ... Lay it down on the vinyl and cut the perimeter so you have about 1.5"- 2" over run on the vinyl to the board all the way around.

DSCN3192.webp

Spray the Loctite adhesive around the perimeter of the panel making sure you get the panel and the vinyl. Let dry for just a minute before you start pulling and stretching the vinyl around the panel board. Apply a staple about every 6-8" and more in the radius areas. Trim the excess where approx. 1" is overlapped around the perimeter.

Finished panel with door handle, speaker, and door latch installed.......

I didn't have any luck with the corrugated rubber material but, I found this grey indoor/outdoor carpet for 10 bucks at Target in Salt Lake City. It was in the seasonal BBQ area on clearance. Regular price was 19.99.

I pulled the old laminated OEM carpet out and traced it. I had to trim two times due to stretch etc...

I like the look and won't have to worry about the carpet ripping apart now a little lighter than the OEM but, it blends well.

I had plenty left over to do the tailgate as well but, I want the WagonGear tailgate panel....

Enjoy guys

Definitely inspiring, to say the very least!
On a side note: you mentioned using self etching primer before painting your various items black. This was only on the steel items right? Or did you use it on the plastic pieces as well?

Thanks Danny,

Etching primer on all plastic trim and after scuffing the wheels I used it as well.

Everything else is regular primer and paint.

Good to know, thanks J!
