SSCR, WOW what a super job you have done!!!!!!!!!!! You should be really proud...... Two questions: 1) Who did you get your headliner from and how did you fix your horn or get new horn(s) from, OEM still available??

Thanks buddy, I got the headliner from Cruiser Corps, great people to deal with. The horns are not OEM units but look the part. I bought them from a vender on eBay, I'll to find a link.

Thanks, just going thru your thread backwards...............amazing is the only word...............impressed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great, do our rigs come with one or two horns??

Can't wait to see the hardtop pics, going to put mine on this winter.....................your build is great!!!! I have to start looking into gaskets and any hardware I may need.............

Awesome work !!!
Just wandering if you could save me some time hunting..Could you tell me the paint code you used on the body (yellow) and on the glove box door , instrument panel, etc ( silver ). What brand of paint and possibly the formulas. Is it basecoat / clearcoat or single stage.
I'm assuming it is stock 76 fj40 colors, but I've seen about half a dozen different FJ's that have the "stock" color and they all seem a little different.
My FJ was painted twice by previous owner and I have three different shades of yellow..Lol

Point is I like the color of yours... Help me..
Thanks

THANKS guys. It's stock mustard yellow 532 in a single stage. The glove box door and other pewter stuff is a powder coat I matched to a original piece, sorry don't know the code to that. I'll ask my paint guy for the exact make of the paint.

Did some more things leading up to the installation of the hard top, I cleaned up my roll cage pads, and sprayed them with a vinyl dye/paint to make them consistent from almost 40 years of fading from the sun.

@ginmt Also I figured where this dash light I had from my parts box goes, thanks to another mudder posting about it. I cleaned up the lamp housing and the light filter really well, resoldered the connections, got rid of the aftermarket lamp that the PO had attached to it, stripped it down to bare metal and re painted it and installed it. New bulb and some stainless screws to finish it off. Works just like when it was new. Thanks ginmtb!

As you can see I ended up shooting the metal bracket with flat black instead on gloss so it kinda disappears into the back ground.

I also finally installed my jack that I refurbished awhile ago. I laid it on some closed cell foam to make a template for the bottom to protect the paint on the floor when it is put in place.

Took a couple of shots of it before I threw the top on so the next owner can know what she looks like topless...

SSCR
in regards to your hunt for the dash pad bracket. they can be found. i have an extra i would love to sell you. i hunted for 6 weeks to find one. its in great shape, hell it looks like its NOS.

that said, if you order the TPI pad, it comes with that bracket. brand spankin new. i did not know that to start out with. and i could not be happier with the TPI pad. it looks and feels like OEM. my first 40 i replaced the dash with OEM, decided to try TPI for my second one. people cant tell the difference. i highly recommend them.

OEM dash pad does not come with the bracket. neither does the goober pad from my understanding.

great build by the way, thanks for all the detailed pictures.

SSCR,
Are you running 33x10.50 or 9.50 on that beautiful piece of restoration??

Cheers!

Been following this build off and on--That is some piece of work you have done!!! A beautiful 40 - inside and out!

Thanks 1fine40, sggoat, I appreciate it. The truck outside really catches the mustard look instead of being under the fluorescents. Really fell in love with that color, and to think I was going to paint it dune beige ;)
