spent part of yesterday screwing around with ideas for the shackle mount on the axle....finally, decided I had enuf 5/8-5/8 heims laying around to experiment with those...and this is what resulted...

and lastly, a shot from the driversside...the springs don't sit parallel in the mount because the overload leaf is angled...not a big deal, and it does lower the rear end a tad.

Appears I'm "very close" to level with what the rig was before...

keep up the good work woody! looks awesome

Looks Great!!!

I got the 14 bolt under the truck today :)

interesting shackle mount on the axle tube. at first i didn't think it looked like it would handle the load, but after staring for a minute... i think you've got a good setup.

So is it gonna start up again or did your wife spend all your Cruiser fund down in Mexico? :D

hehehe....no, might get some time in this weekend....pushing to hook with Spaceghost in March, so now I have a deadline. Most of the work now is welding and cleanup and painting. Hopefully, a few more pics by Sunday...finally got a good idea yesterday to fix a design flaw in the upper frame-side mount...

ok, excuse my stupidity, but do these parts (circled) rotate/swivel, or are they solidly mounted.

i know where it joins the axle moves, but i was wondering whether the joint onto the link tube rotates, as the axle drops.

that's simply the jam nut for the heim joint to prevent it from rotating in the threaded links. no rotation at that point, however the heims are installed with mialigment washers and do rotate on their ball-axis during suspension travel.

Got some welding done on Saturday....and cured a design flaw in the upper link mounts. Hope to get that welded in this week and at least have the frame-side fab work completed. (pics pending, probably Wed night...)

that's really what i wanted to know, if the link rotated at all, because i would imagine it would need to as the axle drops and twists

volleyball tonite...volleyball tomorrow nite....might get some shop time late, otherwise Wed night....tentative test date with SpaceGhost Mar 20th or so...

<--slacker...

well, actually, I was out welding both Tues and Wed nites this week...but didn't take the camera out. Pulled all the links and the axle late last night, hoping to do final welding on Sat and painting on Sunday this weekend.

Did get my <bling> 6016 alum SM465 plate adapter installed on Tues....hopefully the final hardware is here today for a weekend install.

Pics over the weekend...fer sure...

tonight :flipoff2: (arms painted yesterday, axle cleaned up and ready for primer, plate adapter tested/fitted for the t-case, skid plate reinforcement added....today is more awkward out of position welding under the truck...yee hah...)

here's a shot of the prototype plate for my SM465/early t-case. This replaces the flame-cut steel jobbie that everyone (including me) complains is tuff to install since the 5 t-case bolts don't align perfectly. This baby is out of Aluminum alloy and uses five 1/2-13 studs for the t-case mount and torx bolts to attach to the tranny. YES, this will be reproduced in the future....the "black lines" show an estimate of where the final shaping will be....

<bling bling>

Next, I had to tap the last (spare) link...made a custom tap handle a while back, works suhweet....

with that done, it's time to add some paint...hung all 5 from the ceiling and gave them 3 coats of gloss black....

dropped the 1/4 ellip packs, gave the plate a shot of paint....primer for now, black later this week...
