He, as the seller, has the option of posting your question and his response for others to see. I doubt he would do that.

That's what I was asking...I doubt it too. I just wish it would auto post them and require removal so that maybe some of the bidders would see it before it was removed.

guys, with the best of intentions you are pretty much inviting the guy to get a lawyer to send a nasty letter to woody that might get this whole thread nixed. there is a big difference legally between quoting stuff this guy or law enforcement said on the internet, and a first hand witness posting photos of problems with a specific vehicle, which is all simply fair comment, as against taking that stuff on the road and actively trying to put him out of business, which is intentional interference with contractual relations.

if you are going to do something proactive that could damage his business interests, think very carefully whether you personally have the evidence to defend yourself if he fights back (this thread is not evidence of anything) and do not discuss it here and thereby drag woody into it.

much easier to let the stuff jim said about the current truck and the stuff the guy said himself about his past speak for itself and hopefully prudent buyers will find it.

Agreed, just positing a hypothetical.

Like I said, asking a pointed question is much different than making an allegation.

Anyone is free to ask a question, how he decides to answer is up to him...if he decides to purger himself, that's his business.

This is Brett Young is response to the claims made by Jim Chenoweth of TLC Performance
I have never met or spoke with Jim, I’ll do my best to explain my position. Below is a link to the pictures of the vehicle in question. I sold it halfway through it’s restoration to Jim’s customer, the last few pics with the winch and AC were taken 2 days before it was sent out on a truck to Ohio. You make up your mind if this vehicle looks like the incredible POS Jim claims it is. I can only speculate to Jim’s motive, obvious he is getting paid to do additional work to this vehicle. I sold the vehicle in Dec of 11. I understand Jim is a long time member of this web forum, and I hardly ever use it. I ask you look at the facts and decide for yourself.
I realize my response may just perpetuate the drama here, but I feel I’m forced to state my case. I will not respond to any future drama regarding these posts. As everyone can see, I’ve sold FJ40’s on eBay for years with perfect satisfaction. I have piles of recommendations and happy customers. Overall, I have a 98% success rate that nobody hears about other than the public eBay feedback, that 2% of unhappy people create this type of circus. Do the responders in this post want to ignore the 1500 or more satisfied customers and only speak on the handful of diss-satisfied? Everyone has different expectations, I invite anyone to view a vehicle before purchase, and many do. Never had a guy walk on one if he bought through eBay or some other forum. Obviously, I take a lesson from this drama. I now understand why most shops do not sell sight unseen, that may be a requirement for me as well.
I buy Cruisers all over the North West and other places, should I apologize for not buying them from people when I go look? I’m very nice after a 6-10 hour drive to view a POS then walk away, so I’m a jerk for that? It is absolutely impossible to make everyone happy, I go off what I know and try to make even the most unrealistic customer happy. As to the know it alls regarding my so called past, it is almost funny to me how people jump on a band wagon to crucify someone when they really do not have the right information. I’m not going to make threats regarding the inaccurate information and slander posted here, but will say this is not taken lightly. I already have appropriate action in the works, I do take in personally, I will hold those parties in question accountable. Let me be firm in stating I do have the legal connections and resources to rectify this problem, I will use all at my disposal. I do not like conflict, but I’m backed up against a corner, I’m coming out swinging. In closing, I do take a lesson from this, I’m extremely disappointed, I will do my best in the future to eliminate this type of problem and modify sight unseen sales.

...as transparent as glass...

Even though this thread will likely be deleated in a matter of minutes i will confirm Jim Chenoweth's character. A charecter witness if you will.

Jim is one of the coolest strait up cruiser mechanics i have ever come across.
No nonsense bull****. No trying to talk you into something you think you want. He'll tell you why you don't want it. Reasonably priced as they come. Up to his ears in work out of his small shop because of word of mouth.
The man knows cruisers period.

So Brett don't come on here with bull**** threats against the man's charecter.
You can't compare to a pimple on Jim's ass as far as a cruiser mechanic and enthusiest.

You're a flipper, plain and simple.

brett did you provide the buyer a letter stating that you had restored the truck by, among other things, rebuilding the motor, transmission and tcase and adding a new clutch?

Welcome Brett! :clap::flipoff2:

In Brett's defense, the engine had been (poorly) rebuilt at some point in the past.
And the clutch has very low miles on it.

x2 re semlin's questions.

"I sold it halfway through it’s restoration to Jim’s customer"

Help us out here. Did you represent to the buyer that the engine and transfer case rebuild and clutch replacement had already been completed prior to his purchase? Or was he made aware that the truck was "halfway through it's restoration"?

Sure looks nice in the photos.

My understanding is the FJ40 was initially represented as being "under restoration" when the CO contacted the PO to inquire about buying one of these amazing restorations.

When the 'resto' was finished, the completed vehicle was shipped to Ohio.

One of the more fascinating threads I've read on this forum and many others.

I'm one of those creatures whom internet lowlifes would love to make acquaintance: I trust people, and I'm a long way from wherever they are - meaning I often have to purchase sight-unseen.

On the other hand, this part of Alaska does have a long-running - and still current - reputation for frontier justice, meaning scam artists know they need stay away. It's not that they get run out of Dodge City.....more like they never leave....;)

Hence the PhotoBucket File being named "Completed"?

What is it, Brett? Completed or halfway through?
