This is Brett Young is response to the claims made by Jim Chenoweth of TLC Performance
I have never met or spoke with Jim, I’ll do my best to explain my position. Below is a link to the pictures of the vehicle in question. I sold it halfway through it’s restoration to Jim’s customer, the last few pics with the winch and AC were taken 2 days before it was sent out on a truck to Ohio. You make up your mind if this vehicle looks like the incredible POS Jim claims it is. I can only speculate to Jim’s motive, obvious he is getting paid to do additional work to this vehicle. I sold the vehicle in Dec of 11. I understand Jim is a long time member of this web forum, and I hardly ever use it. I ask you look at the facts and decide for yourself.
I realize my response may just perpetuate the drama here, but I feel I’m forced to state my case. I will not respond to any future drama regarding these posts. As everyone can see, I’ve sold FJ40’s on eBay for years with perfect satisfaction. I have piles of recommendations and happy customers. Overall, I have a 98% success rate that nobody hears about other than the public eBay feedback, that 2% of unhappy people create this type of circus. Do the responders in this post want to ignore the 1500 or more satisfied customers and only speak on the handful of diss-satisfied? Everyone has different expectations, I invite anyone to view a vehicle before purchase, and many do. Never had a guy walk on one if he bought through eBay or some other forum. Obviously, I take a lesson from this drama. I now understand why most shops do not sell sight unseen, that may be a requirement for me as well.
I buy Cruisers all over the North West and other places, should I apologize for not buying them from people when I go look? I’m very nice after a 6-10 hour drive to view a POS then walk away, so I’m a jerk for that? It is absolutely impossible to make everyone happy, I go off what I know and try to make even the most unrealistic customer happy. As to the know it alls regarding my so called past, it is almost funny to me how people jump on a band wagon to crucify someone when they really do not have the right information. I’m not going to make threats regarding the inaccurate information and slander posted here, but will say this is not taken lightly. I already have appropriate action in the works, I do take in personally, I will hold those parties in question accountable. Let me be firm in stating I do have the legal connections and resources to rectify this problem, I will use all at my disposal. I do not like conflict, but I’m backed up against a corner, I’m coming out swinging. In closing, I do take a lesson from this, I’m extremely disappointed, I will do my best in the future to eliminate this type of problem and modify sight unseen sales.
