Just did this, because the hole in the grommet matches that of the soft line, I cut the soft line flush with the grommet, pushed the metal elbows into the soft lines (wife did, I was below holding the lines), with the little hose clamps on the underside of the truck.

Hopefully that makes sense?

Yes, I can take a few photos... but you won't be able to see clearly whats going on. I tried to create something for you that may help? (hopefully) as to what I did.

I had to do it this way because the city racer grommet holes are too big for the metal elbow. However, sized perfectly for an 8mm soft line. So essentially I just used the soft line up through the grommet and then razor bladed it flush.

Are there hard lines inside of the cab?


I just bent new fuel line yesterday to run along the frame rail, then 90 just short of the grommet on the underside of the tub. I figure I will just run flex line from the tank down to that hard line underneath and call it a day.

That's what I wasn't seeing anywhere! Those are easy enough to bend, no problem.

Looks like most of my fuel line matches that, just a couple stub 90's and I'll be fine.

I'm also only dealing with one line, I don't have a return line from my fuel pump, I'll use the other hole in the grommet for wiring.

There's another hole in the floor next to the fuel lines for the wires for gas gauge sender. The wires can be seen in the pic. In all the 40s I dealt with only had 1 90* hard line for the supply line because has a tight turn and it sort of goes toward the bottom of the tank

The second hole for the wires didn't make it through my rebuild last time, I think it is covered by a good layer of Monstaliner.

I can feel the profile through the Monstaliner on the bottom, but that's about it. It seems to be sealed up between some layers.

I sure am, and it definitely takes some patience.

Very nice. I have more patience with stuff than most, and I look at that and say F it, take my money and send me a premolded one.

Cutting in the details now, so far it looks fairly good.


I'm waiting on some parts from McMaster-Carr then I can seal up the remaining holes in the tub. Once that's done I'll be bolting most of the interior back together.

In the meantime, I'll finish up with the mat and a thin layer of insulation under it.
