Nope, I still have a solid supply of hackle in my stash! Most of the flies I've been tying the last couple of winters use hair, mostly elk and moose.

The Google machine tells me it's in the ballpark of 375 miles down there, nearly 7 hours. That might be a long weekend trip! I need to make it down there one day anyways, one of my sidekicks from the Army days lives there.
I'm always interested in fishing new waters!

You must have watched " A River Runs Though it" too many times till you moved there! Always love the pics. I need to get back out that way again soon. I have thought about dragging one of my 40's out just to cruise around Yellowstone and Jackson for a few days.

That is a full 16.4 gallon tank, and adjusted for 33" rubber?
That is about what I get with 28" tread off the odometer. Kinda tired 2F that took well to a light refresh.

Dang, I didn't account for the discrepancy in the odometer due to the tire size. Wouldn't matter to me though, I keep a rolling tab of mileage in my head when traveling. So knowing that 177 on the odometer is max I'll keep it at that.
So like 13.4mpg. - edit, I assumed my tires were stock diameter, they are probably smaller

I just ran my numbers since mid-September. I noticed a jump up when I accidentally put in 88 instead of 86 - 12.07mpg. New Mexico sells lower octane fuel due to altitude, I guess.
If octane is a combustion inhibitor, then I wonder, would I be too advanced for a good power output, or am I actually getting some degree of pre-ignition?

I'm running a non-US carb from the mid 80's if I remember correctly, JimC rebuilt it a few years ago. No emissions stuff, no gimmicks, all utility.
I didn't get a mileage calc out of the last tank, I just poured a 5 gallon MFC in it and went back to the gas station after I ran it empty.
That was the remainder of the tank from last time I drove it on the 600+ mile trip a couple of weeks ago.
Yes! And if you figure out why this happens let me know. What’s even weirder is it seems to “burp” when parked. I’ll come out
Some mornings and there’s a random couple of drops of oil on the floor under the breather. I’ve got an extension on it now - it’s a band-aid for the leak and a way to keep water out of my axle but the random gear oil burps have always confused me.

It gets pretty messy around that breather cap, for the life of me I don't see why it would be leaking like that. Maybe just gear oil splashing from the inner axle shaft up on the cap, then seeping down onto the axle housing, I don't rally know. The simplest fix would be to extend it like you did, hell maybe that is the ultimate fix.
Exact same thing for me. I don’t drive in the rain or rivers so can’t be water. It gets really hot in my garage in summer...oil expanding?
