The dealer did 5K and 10K maintenance as LC was under service contract for person that did 2 year lease. I bought it and for 15K change I did work. The filter was on entirely to tight. I had to use a breaker bar to get it free. The ear tabs broke that is what created hole in cap. This was not the only thing in my opinion that was over torqued. The Wheel Nuts required a breaker bar to free them as well. With 5 lug nuts no reason for that kind of torque to guarantee they stay on.
In some thread I read this and captured it these are values I used when changing my oil.
Oil pan drain plug: 30 ft/lb
Stock filter cap: 18 ft/lb
Filter cap drain plug: 9 ft/lb
Not sure what wheel nuts are supposed to be at but I did them like I do all my other cars and have done for years. I have 4 way lug wrench. I go to spin tight and then 1/8 more turn. I can remove any lug at this setting even with factory tool kit in case of flat tire.
Note if dealer is doing your oil change and they break a cap they pay for new one they do not I assume come and tell you they broke it and ask you to buy a new one. So what do service tech's care if they over tighten them.
