I'm in the very slow process of replacing/rebuilding a lot of parts on my '92. I was building a part list and noticed the damn cushion retainers are more expensive than the shocks! I need to buy these because the PO was an idiot and let midas or whoever replace the front shocks before. The left and right sides don't even match in size.
Anyway, this part is just an extra thick, stamped washer.

Does anyone know of a decent replacement part that isn't too expensive?
I tried the google, but that is only helpful if you actually know what to look for.

IF you know the washer size you want, perhaps a bolt supply house would have descriptions on their site you could work from, for example Fastenal. I had this same issue on a project I was working on and had some washers laser cut out of 7 guage steel, worked great, but the minimum charge might not be worth it. That's easy stuff for a laser cutter though.

Yeah my local dealer gives a 25% discount to land cruiser club members and for two each of those retainers I was still out of pocket almost $50. I did learn that Bilstein shocks ship with that hardware. $75 for each Bilstein shock on Amazon.

The Toyota part numbers are 90948-02141 and 90948-02144 and you need 8 of each to do both sides. That will give you something to compare. I couldn't find fender washers that would work - but I live in a small town.

Thanks, guys, I get 10% over dealer cost because I work for Toyota. It is a ice perk of the job. However, these are still unreasonably expensive. I'll check with what Hillman has to offer. I'm also rooting through old part bins at work to see what I can find. I just can't imagine why they are so expensive outside the normal supply/demand curves.
I'm going to complain to some guys at work about this. It's a damn washer for goodness sake!

I get the same discount at Toyota but dang, these are ridiculous. I went to order them but then they told me how much they were. I work at Lowe's so I walked over to aisle 17, grabbed a bag of 30 for less than one washer from Mr. T and figured I might have to double them up. I got home and took my old shocks out and they were the same thickness. I primed and spray painted them for good measure but not too concerned about it. I still had most of the originals but a couple had a little bit of oxidation on them so I threw them in the recycling. I think it's more of a matter that most people don't even batt an eye when replacing their shocks. They just say "Oh, ok I must need the Toyota retainers!"

Well......If you grabbed a bag of 30, maybe you could "hook a brutha up, dog............."

The only thing with those zinc fender washers is they don't prevent the shock from rubbing agains the mount. Am I wrong to be concerned about that?

Those retainers are expensive now matter how you go. I found something similar in the MSD and Grainger catalogs but $$$ DAMN!!! I guess stamping them must be pretty expensive!

Since your From AA, I got them at the Andersons by the Pound.
If you have never been to the Andersons you should go. Awesome Store, sells beer, homemade bread, amsoil and Land Cruiser Shock Washers.
These were super thick and worked fine. I took an old one to size up.
Pretty sure they were metric. Likely less than $1 each.

Curious about the MCX so I looked it up:

I just replaced mine... Had an old tire laying around, took a hole saw and cut a bunch of 2 inch holes in the tread and used those... free steel belted cushions! Going on two weeks now with no issues and can't foresee any.

I would but I have two 80s... Otherwise they would already be at the post office.

By my math, that's only 16.....unless they take the same on the other end of the truck as well. Then all is forgiven.

It takes 8 on the front, 4 on the rear, so total of 12.
