A little washed out (cheap cell phone cam) but here's a pic of the factory fusible link and it's connection to an OEM battery cable. The white/blue wire on the other side (black connector) was a little hacked so I had to extend it with plain white. Vehicle is a '78 so this should be good for 9/71-7/80 FJ40s.

I don't know if you plan on replacing any more of your wiring, your work looks pretty clean, but I ran across this on Craigs and thought of your situation. Wiring harness for $40 can't be bad.

Should there be some extra plugs? How long does the link need to be? Everything fits together like it's always been there, can't see where an extra couple inches of wire would go. But now I'm paranoid.

Fusible link wire is a good bit more flexible than regular wire of the same gauge. It just feels different. It wasn't used on all years. My battery cable purchased from Toyota has 9" of white wire coming out the back of the battery clamp. The fusible link wire is 2.5" long between the connections. The wire coming out of the harness is only a couple of inches long (mine is altered). I have seen both white and black connectors at that point.

I keep trying to get a better pic with my phone so folks can scavenge connectors off of various junk yard Toyotas. I'm sure there are multiple vehicles that used the same stuff. Below is the best I can get. Still washed out. Maybe Coolerman can post something clearer.

yeah, I don't have anything like that. mine looks like if you took the white lead off the terminal and plugged it directly onto that black connector. So, you say it's about 2.5" long. How important is the length (if I were to make my own)? Is it a pretty standard rating, say in amps?
Hope these aren't too simple questions, I just plain don't know and would like to make sure the cruiser doesn't melt down or worse. Thanks.
