Anybody in Albuquerque recommend a good shop to get a drive shaft redone? Bent my rear drive shaft on the 99 cruiser.

Otherwise, I would recommend U-Joints inc. Retubing a shaft and balance will be less than 2 bills based on the length of tubing.

I will second U-Joints.

3rd. Caveat: everytime I bought them my Koyo joints and had them do metric tubing the cost would always come within $50-75 of a brand new Toyota shaft.

That said, they probably hate me because I brought in specs for run out, ujoint tolerances, zerk orientation etc. and I was always specif as to no Spicer/Moog junk on my rig.

:)

Thanks for the replies. Is there really a big difference between the OEM shaft and getting it retubed and balanced? quality? specs? I called Wilson's today. They quoted me between 250 and 350 for a new tube. Was going to use the same yokes. Am I looking at $500 for a new OEM rear shaft?

I think the cost for a new rear DS for the 80 series is somewhere around $400 with our discount, if memory serves. Right Beno?

Depending on the age of the DS, the splines between the two halves can be worn and the DS shop can't do anything to fix that. Mine has 220k+ miles and there's a fair amount of play in the splines.

Is this where you got yours? I think I will be in the same boat as you and need custom length shafts, as I am running a late model H42, which has the exact dimensions of a H55. Though you might be a bit longer since you are SOA and I am staying SUA.

A new rear drive shaft for a 99 100 Series lists for $501.65, net $376.24.

There is if the shaft needs to be adjusted for length.

Are you suggesting that the shaft I offer needs to be adjusted for length?

I do believe the discussion digressed.

Just remember to lube it properly....hardy harr harr
