Plus I want to put in a toybox in the future and I think I want the shorter h41 to work with. I saw the thread on the h55 with toybox but I don't think I want to have to put in a body lift to make it all fit. Also, I could put an h41 in right now without changing the lengths of the driveshafts.

I agree I would rather have an h55 but finances say I should get an h41.

H42, lower gears, Mini van air box mounted as high as possible on upper right side. Bob

Has anybody heard from Mark W lately?

As much as I would like to see the sites, with a 4k mile trip and pulling a three car trailer, I need the easiest route, is this the one I should take?
Thanks

The easiest would be hwy 43 from Edmonton to Grande Prairie. Coming up through Grande Cache is scenic, but the highway is very narrow and has A LOT of oilfield traffic. Plus its uphill all the way from Hinton.

I got an email from him 10 days ago. He said that he has been "really out of town" which for Mark would seem pretty far out. He also mentioned that he has been very busy with non-cruiser related stuff but will start communicating about the ACT in the next week or so.

Thanks for the info.
Another question for those that have wheeled in AK, hard top or soft top, I have both but rarely run either down here as our trails always have off camber sections next to trees and tops don't survive.

I've been wavering between an h41 or 4.11 diffs. Why would you recommend the 4.11 diffs over changing the transmission to the h41?

I have an H41 with 4:11's. Changing the diff gears will help mostly with keeping in your power band with larger tires on the highway. In essence keeping the gearing stock and making it easir to pull those long steep grades. Switching to an h41 from an h42 you will see dramatic changes in your crawl ratio and offroad performance (lower crawl ratio). Choose diff gears for highway performance. Chose H41 for offroad. Do both!

Hard

The alders will eat your soft top windows in the first mile. Hardtops survive leaning on trees better too. If its sunny enough to pull the top off, a kazillion mozzies will hatch from the nearest puddle and cause you to put on a bug suit anyway. Ratpuke and I found it better to just 'hotbox' in the Cruiser with a bug coil smoldering in the ashtray.

What he said:D I got some window screen and put it in the rear windows on my70 for the 06 treck did a good job.

Hmm, not a bad idea at all! Might even screen the front windows:D

Guess I better get the porta power out and straighten the body so the hard doors will fit again.
Thanks

Going for sure!

So I sent my form and $300 today!
Looks like I will be leaving Edmonton on July 3rd.
Anyone planning to be in the neighborhood at this time ?

We are planning on heading out on the 5th and then run pretty hard to Anchorage to load up with food, do any repairs etc. and have a few days to relax/prepare for the Trek.

Not sure if guys are getting together for a pre-stage somewhere or not. I am sure that will be determined closer to the date.

Todd and I are planning on leaving TN on the 5 th and driving about 20 hrs/day. Our plan was to recover/relax at Tok but if people at going to meet in Anchorage we could drop the trailer and go down to anchorage., our passengers are flying into Anchorage and we had made arrangements with a friend that lives there to get them to Tok. I looked at the Chamber of Commerce website for Tok and it looks like there are stores and supplies there, is this true? What is the best place to leave our Tow Rig and Trailer?
